(Seney, MI) – Condolences and remembrances are pouring in for a beloved 20-year-old Schoolcraft County youth who was killed late Wednesday night in an eastern Upper Peninsula traffic accident.

The crash as reported about 11:30 p.m. ET, late Wed., night March 14, 2018.

20-year-old Austin Duszynski of Seney, MI is being remembered as a loving, caring young man – who was the consummate Yooper. His bond with the outdoors of northern Michigan was obvious in nearly every waking moment of his life, a love he shared with his tight-knit family and friends.

Duszynski grew with the humble values that are still alive in the small town of Seney, MI in Schoolcraft County. He graduated from Newberry High School.

Austin Duszynski loved fishing, hunting and snowmobiling as much as – or more – than any youth who learns about life by growing up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Marcy Barker has set up a funeral fund to help the Duszynski family and remembers the young man that touched their hearts.

Accident victim Austin Duszynski 1In the short time since his passing, the community has already shown its generosity through donations to the victim’s family.

Dusznyski leaves behind a sister, Chelsea.

Duszynski “loved ripping, rolling coal, hunting, fishing, family, and friends.” Barker wrote on the GoFundMe page set up for Austin.

“He was taken away to soon from all. I would like to ask for donations to help the family. Bless you all and thank you in advance.”

Funeral services have not been announced, but will be in the near future.
Duszynski was employed as a utility worker at Louisiana Pacific.

His untimely passing stands as a reminder to all about how fragile life can be.

“Please pray for my family, said cousin Renee Duszynski “We have lost a wonderful genuine young man. Twenty is too soon to be gone, and it’s hard when you feel the loss to understand why.”

Renee Duszynski reminded all of us to say “I love you” more often to the ones for whom we care dearly care – even if they know it and you’ve told them 100 times.

“I may not always tell my cousins how much I love them but I do,” she said “I am asking for prayers for my cousin and his family as they try to deal with this loss.

“It was always a pleasure having Austin in my home for a family dinner when he came down hunting. There will always be an extra place and giblets left over… Fly high Austin and give your granny a hug for me!”

Renee’s Facebook comments were echoed by many who cannot believe they lost their friend and family member.

Duszynski was a “genuine great guy with an infectious smile,” said Julie Mills-McAlpine, while explaining how he became a quick member of her family and outlined his kindness and fun he had with others including birthday parties.

The crash was along River Road near County Road 601 (also known by another name in that area).

The Republic Township Volunteer Fire Department rushed to the scene.

There was concern someone might be trapped in the vehicle because 911 callers cold only use flashlights to look down to the vehicle from atop the steep embankment.

First the vehicle was said to be partially in the Michigamme River. Firefighters on the scene said its resting on its side against a utility pole.

“It’s on its side against pole,” said a firefighter who quickly navigated the the embankment to make sure the vehicle was unoccupied.

That firefighter arrived in his own vehicle since he was closer to the wreck, and it was unknown if anyone was trapped. Authorities search then nearby area to make sure an injured person did not pass out unseen.

The vehicle is registered to two people out of Minnesota, and police are searching for the driver. U.P. Breaking News is temporarily withholding the names. The names match with a couple in the Duluth area.

Michigan State Police are investigating the crash.

(Houghton, MI) – Sanders are being called out in Houghton after a multi-vehicle pile-up due to extremely slippery conditions on M-26 and other places.

So far no injuries reported.

Officials are temporarily blocking traffic on M-26 “on the hill” – also just south of the (closed) Hardees fast food restaurant.
Its on M-26 but also known as Memorial Road.

There were multiple reports of a second pileup near Econo Foods but apparently it was not found – may be confused with the original pileup.

The vehicles may have been involved in a series of crashes.
