Two people suffer severe burns Thursday night in Gwinn explosion – and a house has been destroyed in a fire near the Escanaba Township/Wells Township line

(Escanaba Township and Forsyth Township, MI) – A house is ablaze in Escanaba Township – while an stove explosion in Forsyth Township has left two people with severe burns.

An explosion involving a “campfire stove” was reported in Forsyth Township about 11:35 p.m. Thursday night, Jan.18, 2018. Police are investigating the incident.

The explosion was reported at 25 N. Pearce Street Apt. 2 in Gwinn, MI.
A male and female victim are said to have “severe burns.” The female reportedly has burns over nearly all her body – and the man is said to have burns from his waist down to his feet.

Both were reported conscience, but that is not unusual in flash burn fires. Its later that that the victim often gets worse. The victims have been rushed to U.P. Health System-Marquette.

Meanwhile law enforcement and numerous fire departments from Marquette County and Delta County have been sent to the house fire that was reported about late Thursday night about 15 minutes prior to the Gwinn area explosion.

The fire is reported to have destroyed a home near the Escanaba Township and Wells Township line. The blaze is reportedly at a residence on 20th road near J Road.

The home was reported fully engulfed. Firefighters not have the fire knocked down.
