Chippewa County Jail Inmate Misty Marie Shroyer Makes a Short Bid for Freedom: Fled custody this afternoon while getting medical treatment in the Soo

Chippewa Jail Inmate – with long criminal history in several states – flees while being treated at hospital – quickly recaptured

(Sault Ste. Marie, MI) – Chippewa County Jail inmate makes bid for freedom, but is recaptured just minutes after fleeing from police.

31-year-old Misty Marie Shroyer was taken by Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department deputies for medical treatment at War Memorial Hospital this afternoon, Wed., Feb. 28, 2018.

Just before 3 p.m., an officer guarding Shroyer radioed 911 “I have a runner.”
Shroyer was seen bolting down Osborn Boulevard.

“She was last seen running down Governor Osborn drive,” he said.

The officer then said she was clad in a red T-shirt and blue jeans.
Other officers came rushing to help apprehend Shroyer.

“She’s running down an alley,” and officer said.

She was recaptured near the WMH Community Medical Center.

“I’ve got her,” an officer said.
“One in custody,” the dispatcher said.

Shroyer has served time during 2010 in Florida for credit card theft, grand theft and fraudulent use of an ID. She fled Florida probation/parole and is listed as an absconder.
She was also arrested on numerous charges in several counties in the Toledo, Ohio area during 2013 including possession of drug paraphernalia.
It is not immediately known what charges Shroyer is being held on in Chippewa County.
She is a native of Adrian, MI.
