Gwinn man with numerous domestic violence convictions fled the scene of a domestic argument and apparently handed-off his car to create a diversion for cops, because he was wanted on other charge- that has since been cancelled

URGENT – U.P. Breaking News Bulletin – 4-2-18 – 10:11 p.m. ET

Police at this hour were searching for a car with Mr. Artibee and his wife. However, it was just announced by the dispatcher talking to MSP troopers that this morning’s warrant against Mr. Artibee was withdrawn.

Mr. Artibee reached out to this reporter today but did not want to answer questions –  and his wife indicated he had paid a fine to take care of warrant. However neither would answer direct questions.

Both were vague, refused to answer questions (like why he ran, set up decoy car), and reached out to us but then stopped communicating. Sounds like he took care of warrant by paying some kind of fine or fee – this after fleeing.

(Gwinn, MI) – A late Monday morning domestic argument has a Forsyth Township man – with multiple domestic violence convictions – being sought by police on an unrelated warrant after he apparently gamed the cops.

After fleeing, he apparently set the cops up with decoy.

31-year-old Daniel Joseph Artibee left the scene of the argument at his residence on the 200 block of W. Carbon Street in Gwinn – however apparently no one was injured in the incident.
Police were called about 10:50 a.m. ET this morning, Monday, April 2, 2018.

After fleeing the domestic argument call, he was last seen driving a 1999 Silver Honda Civic toward N. Southgate Road also known as W. Iron Street in Gwinn, MI.

However police got behind is vehicle heading south on County Road 553 near the railroad overpass – however someone else – a decoy- was apparently driving the vehicle.

It appears the 34-year-old male decoy is described on police computers as often “armed and dangerous.”

The decoy driver is wanted on warrants out of Illinois but the state is not willing to extradite. Therefor the decoy was not arrested (we are currently withholding his name).

Police then speculated he may have been headed back toward his residence.

Police think one of the places he might have be running is to his mother’s house in Chocolay Township. Artibee is wanted on a no-bond felony warrant – however the nature of the charges is not known.

Artibus was sentenced to two years in prison August 2014 on two counts of third-offense attempted domestic violence that occurred in May 2014.
However it appears he served little or no time because he was charged with another crime in July 2015.

In Nov. 2015, Artibee, then 29 years old of Ishpeming, was sentenced to a $860 fine or go to jail for a July 2015 trespassing incident.

Online records state Artibee has past residences in Ishpeming, Skandia and Marquette.
