Weekend U.P. (Upper Peninsula of Michigan) – Police and fire officials across the U.P. Were kept busy this weekend including a suicidal teen who drank bleach, a man who was injured and then angry when a pressured can exploded while he was burning trash.

There were at least four snowmobile accidents with injuries on Saturday, March 10, 2018 including three in Chippewa County and one in Keweenaw County.
The Keweenaw County accident on Brockway Mountain – and two of those in Chippewa County involved snowmobilers driving fast and crashing into trees in corners – and absolutely destroying their snowmobiles.
In fact, its amazing someone survived the Brockway wreck – because the sled was smashed.
No serious injuries but four sledders were hurt.

The other Chippewa County crash was a sledder crossing the ice on the St. Mary’s River in Detour Village off the coast from Spring Bay Road and S. River Street area. The man was traveling at a high rate of speed and flipped the snowmobile.
He was “up and walking” shortly after the crash.
U.P. Breaking News has now confirmed that there have been at least 9 snowmobile fatalities and three critical injuries in the past 11 weeks.

Yet the state refuses to put up big, big signs warning about curves and demanding the sledders slow down. (U.P. Trails are deadlier than the highways).

Speeding over 100 MPH on today’s snowmobiles is suicide – and there is no way to fix it without behavioral changes – so anyone who has a loved one on a snowmobile should give them hell about slowing down – big time hell.

In Delta County Sunday afternoon, March 11, 2018, paramedics and others were called to a report that a man was cut all over his face, bleeding and in pain.

It appears an aerosol type can was in trash that the victim was burning – and it “exploded all over his face.”

The man also was sick to his stomach and had shooting pains through his thighs.

The dispatcher then warned officers the man was mad at his female partner, accusing her of putting the can in the trash to be burned.

Meanwhile near tragedy in Marquette County on Saturday night, March 10, 2018 at the Teaching Family Homes facility for youth that have been horribly abused or severely neglected – and the major affects that causes on a young person.
A 13-year-old boy “drank bleach” in a suicide attempt. He was on the edge of the property with two other youths. An ambulance and police were sent – and the boy apparently was not seriously injured after allegedly taking “a few gulps of bleach.” So Sad.

In Marquette County, a federal prisoner was taken into custody – and even charged with attempting to obstructing/resisting arrest with law enforcement officers.
He is 28-year-old Walter Noe Aguilera-Aguilar (address unconfirmed).
Aguilera-Aguilar is being held on a no bond federal detainer and has a $5,000 bond set for attempted resisting arrest/obstructing a police officer.
Aguilera-Aguilar was booked into the Marquette County Jail at two minutes before midnight on Saturday, March 10, 2018.
The details are not known.

Meanwhile – another man was busted Sunday afternoon for lying to the cops.
18-year-old Christopher Michael Hughes of Marquette, MI was booked into the Marquette County Jail at 1:49 p.m. ET on Sunday, March 11, 2018.
Hughes remains jailed this morning (Monday) on a charge of “lying to a peace officer.”
The details are not known.

At least five people were busted this weekend in Marquette County and another five in Delta County for drunken driving – one suspect in Marquette had a blood alcohol level of .076 and another was charged under the “no tolerance” law – plus one woman allegedly was driving drunk with a kid in the car. U.P. Breaking News generally only reports names on felony drunken driving – although it varies by case – including when suspects resist arrest.

Non-scientific estimate by UPBN based on pullovers by police – 25 percent of U.P. drivers are illegal.

It appears at least one in four (25 percent) of Yooper drivers are either suspended, no insurance, or drunk driving with multiple arrests. That’s scary.

Generally though, we have heard some U.P. police running tags of older vehicles – while still rolling – before an official stop because its the poorer drivers who are most likely to be rolling illegal for something.

And finally on Sunday, heard about a 13-day old baby rushed from Munising Memorial Hospital the U.P. Health System Marquette to be treated for possible meningitis. Again, how terrible and gut-wrenchingly sad. Hopefully the docs are the Marquette hospital will work their magic. Prayers.

(Send photo of Tammy Campbell if you have one)

About 9 p.m. Friday, Marquette County 911 Central Dispatch was notified about the traffic stop by Michigan Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officers.

(Upper Peninsula of Michigan) – It was as if something was in the water, judging by the shear number of truly heinous assaults across the U.P. this weekend.

Here are only a few:

A man calls 911 early today saying he is running down the Northland Truck Trail with someone shooting at him , The trail is one of two ways to go on a dirt back-road between Dickinson County and Marquette County.
Outcome: We do not know, but lots of law enforcement was involved, can’t confirm possible arrest.

Man serious injured after being hit over the head with a guitar at his K.I. Sawyer home – girlfriend is suspect (arrest made).

Six-month-old baby in Chippewa County with a severely twist arm brought to War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie (outcome we do not know, CPS and police investigating)

Two women were charged with home invasion – both from Escanaba area – but one of the assaults committed in Marquette County (see our other stories for names etc.)

A fraction of the other assaults included woman whose boyfriend threatened to cut her wrists, another man disabled his girlfriend’s car and kicked her, a drunk very disorderly at Bell Hospital, another intoxicated person threatening twice to start killing people and cops if the UPSET drug team would not help him.

Strangle suspect

Chloe surrender

Now to our wanted suspect in that strangling incident at about 7 a.m. Sunday that sent a 36-year-old woman to the hospital.

The victim reported “difficulty breathing” after the attempted strangulation in room #8 at the usually quiet Wonderland Motel in Ishpeming, MI. The victim was rushed to U.P. Health System – Bell. The suspect allegedly used a phone cord to strangle the victim.

Ishpeming ambulances now called U.P. Health System “west” (in Marquette paramedics called east) but the hospital is commonly known as Bell Hospital in Ishpeming.

The suspect is 22-year-old Chloe Jazmin Shumate – wanted for the Jan. 21, 2018 incident. Online records state she has lived in Ishpeming and Champion, MI.
Police called her “a person of interest” in the assault.

he fled the scene – and if you know the whereabouts of Chloe Shumate – it will be safer for all if she surrenders. Please Chloe surrender.

Tracking dogs from the Michigan State Police K-9 unit tried unsuccessfully to follow her scent for very far. The case is being handled by the Ishpeming Police Department – and who sent thanks to those who assisted – MSP K-9 unit, the Negaunee Police Department and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.

The Wonderland Motel is located along U.S.-41 but its official address is on Palms Avenue in Ishpeming.

Its urgent you call Ishpeming Police or 911 if you have any info on Chloe. Chloe please surrender.

(Marquette, MI) – An Ishpeming man – who has been accused by an Ishpeming woman of rape – has been busted again.

34-year-old Kyle Thomas Allen of Ishpeming, MI was booked into the Marquette County Jail at 7:31 p.m. Friday night, Jan. 12, 2018 for a Marquette County Circuit Court Probation Violation. Allen is on probation until this November 11,2018 on a felony charge of fourth degree fleeing and eluding police.

Kyle Allen 2

It’s not clear what probation condition he allegedly violated, but it was enough for the court to issue a warrant. We have listed his probation restrictions below.

Our readers helped locate Kyle Allen around Christmas 2016 when a CSC warrant was issued for his arrest.

Allen went on ABC10 TV in Ishpeming in May 2017 claiming his innocence of rape- but not mentioning he was to be sentenced less than a week later for felony fleeing and eluding.

During the story on ABC10 WBUP-TV, Allen did not explain what happened that fateful night with the Ishpeming woman – nor did the story mention his other felony convictions or looming sentencing. (See link to our editorial and other coverage below).

Allen was sentenced on May 19, 2017 and appeared on ABC10 on May 11 – six days earlier. Was this just a freak coincidence?

During his TV10 interview,  Allen blamed social media – i.e. U.P. Breaking News coverage claiming he was railroaded ion the rape charge.

Allen was sentenced in May 2017 for felony fleeing and eluding – and had a 2009 felony cocaine delivery conviction.

Scroll down to see Allen’s MDOC information.
