A habitual offender has been charged with the serious attack on an Ishpeming woman.

Jason Paul Smith of Ishpeming, MI third from left DV suspect

43-year-old Jason Paul Smith of Ishpeming, MI was booked into the Marquette County Jail (MCJ) at 6:01 p.m. Wed., Jan. 31, 2018.
The couple was heard fighting and arguing in their second floor apartment. Alcohol was a factor.
Police launched a manhunt for Smith about 3 p.m. on Wednesday who allegedly fled the scene of the crime on Vine Street – running east and allegedly with blood on his knuckles and a beer in his hand.
Smith is charged with third offense domestic assault/violence, and with a Marquette County Circuit Court Probation Violation.
Bond has not been set for Smith.
**If you have a photo of Mr. Smith – or any info on his DV background please pass it along.
Charged with third offense – yet no records online – plus a circuit court probation violation charge.

We take DV very seriously – and wish all the U.P. prosecutors made available info on DV offenders including mugshot. It would be the greatest public service decision you make today.
It weird that mobile patrol can get photos but jails refuse to help.

Nicole St. Aubin

32-year-old Nicole St. Aubin of Gwinn, MI, who recently got a short jail sentence for meth charge and recently arrested on other crimes including DV, was booked into the MCJ at 3:08 p.m. on Thurs., Feb.1, 2018.
It appears she was sentenced to additional jail time
St. Aubin is accused of going on a bad check spree.
The felony charge is non-sufficient check – 3 checks in 10 days – a charge she faced 2 months ago.

St. Aubin was booked into the MCJ at 10:30 a.m. Sat., Dec. 2, 2017 and bond is set at $15,000.
St. Aubin is charged with three felonies domestic assault, non-sufficient funds three check in 10 days (bad checks), and obstruction of justice.

Not clear if she still faces the domestic assault and obstruction of justice charges, or was it part of a plea deal. It would shocking if those kind of charges would be dropped, though Alger County dropped serious charges to get the meth plea.

St. Aubin was sentenced to 8 months in jail during Sept. 2017 in Alger County Circuit Court.
In July 2017, St. Aubin pleaded guilty to a 10-year felony – possession of meth.
In a plea deal, other charges were dropped including second offense revoked/suspended license, no insurance, using an unlawful registration.
The case involves a May 7, 2017 traffic stop in Munising during which police found meth.
