Saturday morning rape investigation centers on the only topless club in the Upper Peninsula

(Rock/McFarland, MI) – Police are investigating a criminal sexual conduct complaint that is said to have occurred at the Upper Peninsula’s only strip club.
A female, in her late teens, arrived at U.P. Health System – Marquette about 3 a.m. to report she had been raped. The complaint was filed early today, Sat., Dec. 16, 2017.
It is not clear if the victim was a dancer/performer or a customer.
A rape kit was delivered to the Marquette hospital about an hour later by the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department.
A novelty in the U.P., strip clubs are spread across many other areas of Michigan.
It is said that deer hunters flock to the business, according to a 2015 story in the Detroit newspapers.
U.P. Breaking News reached out to management at the topless club, but have not heard back from them.
The club is only open two nights per week – from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
It’s not clear if the investigation will effect things at the club tonight.
Police and prosecutors have been unavailable for comment. The investigation has just started and will likely take days if not longer to investigate.
