(Sault Ste. Marie, MI) – A man showed up at the Soo hospital just after 10 a.m. today and reported he had been shot in a hunting accident.
Today is the opening day of a five-week spring turkey season.

The victim is at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. It is unclear if he shot himself or was wounded by another hunter.

Law enforcement was sent to the hospital to investigate the case. It is not known if Michigan DNR Conservation Officers have been notified about the incident.

The victim was able to make it to the hospital without an ambulance – so his injuries are thought to be relatively minor. The name of the victim has not been released.

In fact, he may have been wounded by some shotgun pellets rather than a high power rifle bullet.

Today is the opening of the 2018 Spring Turkey Season in Michigan including the entire Upper Peninsula.

(Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan) – A Soo area man was rushed to the hospital around noon today, Sunday Nov. 26, 2017 after a serious single car accident.

Nicholas “Nick” Dangler of Sault Ste. Marie, MI was rushed to War Memorial Hospital in the Soo following the serious accident. He is either 21 or 20 years old.

Numerous emergency vehicles were dispatched to the accident on East 3 Mile Road including police, EMS and firefighters from Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Other agencies assisted in blocking the road as the victim was freed from the car. Traffic was detoured around the area of 436 E. 3 Mile Road. The portion East 3 Mile Road that was blocked was between Highway 129 and Seymour Road.

Officials reported there was one victim and the vehicle left the road and wrecked in a ditch. A nurse passing by had to break window to gain access to victim.
The vehicle has a history with police and tribal plate. The crash remains under investigation.

When police checked the tribal license plate on the wrecked car, the report was “it was taken” this morning. Not clear if there will be any issues about the car. The person who took the car was believed to have a suspended driver’s license. However one officer on the scene noted with the accident injuries – Dangler has far more serious things to worry about than possible criminal charges stemming from the wreck.

When staff become patients – and what is allowed to be just part of the call of duty

(Houghton County, Michigan) – For the second time in two days, police have been called to a Copper Country hospital due to a violent patient.

Some hospitals provide enough of their own security, so police do not get called.
About 12:20 p.m. today, Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017, police were called to Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital for a combative patient.
A similar call yesterday when police were sent to a Houghton County hospital on Saturday but included the violent person was a psychiatric patient. U.P. Breaking News believes the Saturday call was also at Aspirus – however also in Houghton County is the U.P. Health System – Portage Hospital.

Just last Sunday, ER staff at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, MI were assaulted by a female patient- who herself had apparently been the victim of an assault. The woman was not cooperative from the get go.
Sault Ste. Marie Police were called to rush to the ER about 3 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017 because one of the doctors had been assaulted.

https://upperpeninsulabreakingnews.wordpress.com/2017/11/19/real-life-in-the-er-is-becoming-too-real-at-war-memorial-hospital-soo-doctor-attacked-in-er-by-woman-who-had-been-assaulted-earlier

In reaction to the Soo story, Facebook readers noted it is common for people in public service jobs to be assaulted.
In addition, several U.P. residents were arrested on various charges in past couple weeks – and notably resisting arrest. Two U.P. counties this week each had two arrests for resisting arrest – in Marquette and Delta counties incidents with two of those arrests in Escanaba, MI.
Plus an accident in Sault Ste. Marie, MI today resulted in a combative patient inside the ambulance – hardly unique as patients can become combative for medical reasons.

Mention it because while police calls to U.P. Hospital are not common – others like cops, paramedics and first responders can be assaulted at any moment.

All in the line of duty.

(Sault Ste. Marie) – This is a week that the doctors and nurses won’t soon forget at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, MI

Sault Ste. Marie Police were called to rush to the ER about 3 a.m. today, Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017 because one of the doctors had been assaulted.

On Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, U.P. Breaking News reported that a man – wearing nothing but underwear despite the freezing weather – drove his vehicle up to the hospital and caused in incident in the ambulance bay at War Memorial.

https://upperpeninsulabreakingnews.wordpress.com/2017/11/14/its-a-bird-its-a-plane-no-its-underwear-man-in-the-ambulance-bay-at-war-memorial-hospital-er-in-the-soo-law-enforcement-was-trying-to-track-down-the-man-and-why-he-fled-and-lots-more-quest

It all began about 2:45 a.m. today – when the now suspect – was an assault victim.

Today’s incident began when police were called to the corner of Ashmun Street and E. Spruce St. for an intoxicated woman who had been assaulted and was laying on the sidewalk.

The male suspect who hit the woman fled on foot down Ashmun St. and she and another witness was not able to give them a good description – possibly wearing a gray sweatshirt.

Police were called by someone who reported:
“She saw male hit a female,” the dispatcher said.

Soo Fire and EMS responded to help the woman but she refused to get in the ambulance and apparently walked the two blocks to War Memorial Hospital.

“She is refusing (treatment/transport) and is very uncooperative,” said a paramedic on the scene.

The woman – who names has not been released – then allegedly assaulted ER staff. The ER call came into 911 about 3 a.m. That’s when the alarm for police went out to get to the hospital for an assault.

“You guys are needed down at the ER,” a dispatcher told police officers. “The ER just called saying the doctor is requesting law enforcement to press charges.”

The woman has been taken to the Chippewa County Jail.

It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane – No it’s Underwear Man in the ambulance bay at War Memorial Hospital ER in the Soo: Law enforcement was trying to track down the man and why he fled – and lots more questions – Plus he’s on tape

(Sault Ste. Marie, MI) – Underwear Man caused quite a buzz this morning when he showed up in the ambulance bay at the emergency room of War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, MI

It all began about 5 a.m. ET today, Tues., Nov. 14, 2017 in the Eastern Upper Peninsula – when a bemused and amused paramedic reported to Chippewa County dispatchers than a man clad only in underwear had made a bizarre appearance.

The man drove his car onto the sidewalk and then into the ambulance bay – where he exited only in undies. The man claimed to need help for his wife or girlfriend – but suddenly left.

He fled to the southwest in his car on Spruce Street. Police are investigating.

The paramedic said the man said he was Robert. However the whole thing was caught on hospital security videotape and the car tag is registered to another person. We are withholding that info until anything is release officially – if ever.

The man may work at a local school – and another report said a pizza restaurant. Everything is clear as mud – but they’ll never forget what they saw this morning during real Life in the ER.
