There are reports that a huge amount of sod was on the roadway and may have contributed to the wreck.

The officer’s name is Sgt. Jacqueline “Jackie” Elaine Sweeney – who survived the crash.
She is 45 years old and recently was involved in the nomination of officers for a lifesaving award.

The crash was reported about 4:09 p.m. ET this afternoon, Tuesday, May 1, 2018.

The crash is on M-553 in the curves near the Marquette Mountain ski hill.
At least one other person is pinned in a second vehicle.

It apparently was a head-on collision.
The Marquette Fire Department extrication team was called to the scene.
Numerous police agencies are blocking traffic on all ends of M-553 including at Division Street.
Off-duty Marquette Fire firefighters have been called in to man the stations because the on-duty firefighters are on the scene.
The road will be closed for many hours.

The Marquette Police department said this about Sweeney when she was promoted to Sargent in May 2016:
A graduate of Lake Superior State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice-law enforcement, Jackie Sweeney was recently promoted to patrol sergeant. Sweeney joined the department in 1995, and is an assistant Law Enforcement Information Network terminal agency coordinator and is in charge of the city’s bike patrol. Sweeney worked with the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office prior to coming to MCPD.

(Marquette County, MI) – There were numerous domestic violence arrests in past 24 hours plus other felonies arrests in Marquette County involving a concealed weapon and even felony drunken driving – and breaking in Escanaba – a woman charged with DV in January calls 911 from a place she is not supposed to be.

As we were about to post this story, a domestic dispute erupted in the city of Escanaba – that shows domestic violence aggressors can be any sex – and sometimes jilted love drives some people to become repeat offenders.

Heather McEntire and John Gray

Heather McEntire and John Gray

43-year-old Heather R. McEntire of Escanaba, MI called 911 just before 5 a.m. ET Thursday morning and claimed she was assaulted by a man she was not supposed to see.
During this morning’s melee, McEntire was out on bond for a Jan. 15, 2018 arrest for domestic violence in Delta County.

John Gray

John Gray

The victim in that assault – 47-year-old John Robert Gray of Escanaba, MI – told 911 this morning that Heather and her brother attacked him.

As part of McEntire’s pretrial bond, she was ordered to stay away from Gray and not to visit his home.

Heather’s brother 46-year-old Jason Parker McEntire of many addresses in Delta County.

McEntire is also known as Heather Sirois; and she used to live in Bark River, Green Bay and Knoxville, TN.

Gray claimed that the siblings McEntire illegally arrived as his apartment at 416 First Avenue South “came in and assaulted him,” the dispatcher told responding officers.

Marquette Police responded just after 10 p.m. ET Wednesday night to a report of a possible domestic violence situation turned into hit and run.
The incident was reported at 700 Homestead St in Marquette, MI.
“Responded to a domestic situation that has now turned into a hit and run PDA (property damage accident),” the dispatcher told police headed to the scene not far from Grove Street and the bypass.
In the rear parking lot, a witness told 911 dispatchers that “a male and a female were involved in a domestic situation,” the officers were told via radio from HQ.
The blonde female ‘got in a white Jeep” and “sped out of the parking lot to get away from the male,” officers were told.
The male got into an older red passenger car and “was leaving in a hurry,” a 911 dispatcher to responding officers
The male, now a suspect, “apparently struck a black in color car in the parking lot,” he said, adding that due to darkness the exact make and model of the red car was not visible.
The red car should “have front and rear damage,” the dispatcher said.
The witness told police that the couple was involved in a previous domestic situation about one month ago.
On the east side of the apartment building, police found a damaged red Ford Taurus.
Its is unclear what became of the investigation.

(Marquette County, MI) – In the past 36, hours, two west Marquette County residents are busted on domestic assault charges, a Gwinn woman on an embezzlement charge, and a Negaunee woman is charged in a fourth degree child abuse case – plus a downstate man is held on a $100,000 contempt of court charges and held without bond in Marquette County on a weapons charge.

fyi – Delta County goes dark and turns soft on DV, like 13 other U.P. Counties – who do not want to admit the crime in their area and thus protect men who commit domestic violence – we believe everyone and especially women have the right to know this information even if their Boss Hogg leaders are asleep at the wheel.
U.P. Breaking News used to provide the detailed arrests in Delta County, but county officials this week stopped revealing charges even in domestic violence cases – because they did not like our editorial accusing them of giving good deals to male abusers. We do not want to miss a DV or assault arrest – so we are now force to print all names – we will be printing all the Delta County arrests later today – a lot of them since Friday.

Pennala crashed his Jeep Cherokee into the building and his SUV became stuck in the north side wall of Ishpeming High School. The outcome of that case is not known.

(Marquette, MI) – Using the tried-and-true gumshoe work of tracking down leads, police have identified a likely suspect and found the vehicle that they believe was involved in yesterday morning’s dangerous 60-mph chase through the heart of Marquette.

Police were questioning the suspect’s family Saturday night.

Under pursuit regulations, Marquette Police kept a ways back from the suspect’s vehicle as they did not go over 60 mph. It happened about 1:30 a.m. ET early Saturday morning, March 24, 2018.

U.P. Breaking News has the name of the family the vehicle belongs to and the name of the 18-year-old suspect – however we are temporarily withholding the information.

As of mid-afternoon Sunday, the suspect has not been booked into the Marquette County Jail.

The 18-year-old suspect is either on the run, was charged via a ticket, or authorities are awaiting a meeting with the prosecutor on how many charges will be filed during the dangerous event.

Read our first story:

The reckless driver got away by speeding a bit faster. If there was a passenger(s) in the car, it was going to get solved because two or more people never keep a secret.
Everyone is lucky that no one was killed as the out-of-control car zoomed through areas busy during the day and night – the chase wound in circles – through campus, near the hospital and on other major streets.

During the chase police noted numerous crimes (not just traffic charges) over a dozens traffic violations involve fleeing and eluding, running through stop signs, dangerous/reckless driving by blowing through intersections, its possible NMU Public Safety will file their own state charges vehicle sped through campus, and more.

Police want to question 18-year-old – who has ties to Marquette and Harvey addresses. U.P. Breaking News will release the suspect and family’s name either later today or first thing Monday. Waiting to see if he surrenders.

On Saturday night, Cops found the sedan they were looking for at the suspect’s parent’s house. The son was allegedly using his dad’s car on Friday night and this morning – his father’s Olds Aurora sedan.

“His 18-year-old son had it last night,” radioed an officer who helped crack the case Saturday night – speaking to Marquette Police headquarters – as they ran the suspect’s history into the crime computer.

Apparently police had contact with the suspect in 2016 in a drug investigation at Marquette Senior High School).
Below are several beige (some models Mocha) Oldmobile Aurora models that are similar to the car the suspect was driving:

(Marquette, MI) – Marquette Police are searching for a car and its occupants who led them on a chase through city streets early today.

The car is described as a black or dark-colored sedan.
The only other description of the sedan is:
Two upper taillights on outside – and two bottom taillights on inside”

The chase began around 1:25 a.m. ET early Saturday morning, March 24, 2018.
The suspect almost collided with a Marquette Police officer – and that started the chase.

The 60-mph chase wound around several streets including the Northern Michigan University campus, and near the U.P. Health System-Marquette hospital.
The streets included Lee Drive, Tracy Street, Seventh Street and Fourth Street.

The suspect blew through numerous intersections without slowing putting many lives in danger. It is unclear if the suspect was drunk, high on drugs or both.

The suspect vehicle is headed north “through campus,” said one officer. The suspect is going “back towards the hospital – circling back.”

“That was the vehicle who tried to cut me off,” said a Marquette Police officer.
A second Marquette officer agreed and said she saw him driving reckless.
Zooming down Fourth street, officers lost sight of the sedan when it turned onto one of the side streets.

“I don’t have the vehicle in sight anymore,” said an officer, obviously disappointed police did not immediately catch the reckless driver.

If there was more than one rider in the black sedan – then the word will spill out. Two people cannot keep a secret. Better to come clean.

If you have any information about the vehicle or its occupants – please call Marquette Police or 911.

Delta County becomes latest county to hide domestic violence suspects (so now we print all names/photos) – as Marquette County is now the last U.P. county not hiding domestic violence suspects (Delta County got mad at us reporting sweet plea deals for abusers, changed mobile patrol feed) – plus numerous Marquette County arrests including man charged in brutal attack on Tuesday – and a man convicted of a 2004 armed robbery in Christmas, MI has been arrested again
