(Gwinn, MI) – The accused Gwinn kiddie rapist/extortionist, who could get life in prison, is a career criminal and real dirt-bag who had caused havoc along nearly all the Michigan Great Lakes.

From downstate Ludington to Erie to Newberry and now Marquette County – Waller’s criminal past runs back nearly 15 years and includes home invasion, stealing guns and escaping from a state prison.

31-year-old Kevin James Waller is now facing six felonies including child rape after a lengthy and excellent probe by the Forsyth Township Police Department.

A huge thumbs up for the Forsyth Township Police Department and its fine Chief Gordon Warchock.

In January 2017 Waller posted a comment under a photo of he and his sis  riding a mini-bike as kids with no helmet:
Hey! Mom and dad didn’t raise no pussies! Now a days you go to jail for shit like this!” (and worse)

Waller posted photos of his dog and four-wheeler – said he likes Xbox – and wants to make sure he looks young:
“Always! Except that big ass gray hair on my eyebrow! Lmao I’m plucking it right now!!

Waller is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC) during another felony – aka rape – and if convicted he could get life in prison.
Waller is accused of the 20-year felony extortion plus a 15-year felony third-degree CSC criminal that involves a person 13-15 years old and three counts of accosting children for immoral purposes (four-year felonies).

Forsyth Township Police Department officers are pleased the case started when contacted by a concerned parent which led to interviewing victims and several witness – all of whom pointed the finger at Waller

He lived in Forsyth Township during the alleged crimes and since moved to Newberry, MI.

Waller is being held without bond in the Marquette County Jail.

Most of his previous felonies happened in downstate Monroe County and Lake County – that are on opposite sides of the Lower Peninsula (LP).

Lake County is located in near Ludington along Lake Michigan.

Monroe County is located on the opposite side of the LP in the SE corner of Michigan along Lake Erie near the cities of Erie, Grand View and Monroe.

The guy has over 20 aliases.

He was supposed to be on state probation until April 2019, according to MDOC records.

38-year-old Jessica Amber Slavik of Marquette, MI was booked into the Marquette County Jail (MCJ) at 1:35 p.m. ET this afternoon Tues., March 27, 2018.
Slavik is charged with felonious assault.

Bond has not been set for Slavik.

Details of the assault case have not been released.

She was a victim in a crash a decade ago that shook the U.P. religious community.

Slavik, then 27, was injured in a three-vehicle crash in June 2007 near Shingleton, MI on M-28 in the Seney Stretch portion of Alger County – that claimed the lives of two men including beloved Episcopal Diocese of Northern Michigan Bishop James Kelsey, 54, of Marquette, MI.

The driver of the pickup truck Slavik was riding in was also killed – Michael Charles Wiita, 58, of Lake Linden, MI.
Bishop Kelsey’s SUV hit the Wiita vehicle.

He has past addresses in past of Gwinn and Gladstone.

In Feb. 2016, Taylor, then 32, of was sentenced to 87 days in jail (time served) and ordered to pay about $1,100 in fines/costs for Dec. 2015 Marquette County incident of attempted assault on a police officer/resisting arrest/obstruction of a police officer.
He had only been out of jail three months when the Dec. 2015 attempted assault occurred

In Sept. 2015, Taylor was sentenced to 78 days in jail (time served), one year probation and ordered to pay about $1,100 in fines for a June 2015 assault on a police officer/resisting arrest/obstruction of an officer/justice.

(Escanaba, MI) – A Delta County Public Defender was among those arrested since Valentine’s Day – and others including three domestic assaults plus theft.

A prominent Escanaba area attorney, known for her work as a court-appointed defense lawyer, was arrested Friday night on drunken driving charges.

58-year-old veteran lawyer Jayne E. Mackowiak of Gladstone, MI was booked into the Delta County Detention Center (DCDC) at 9:49 p.m. on Fri., Feb. 16, 2018.

Mackowiak is charged with operating under the influence of liquor (OUIL) per se. Mackowiak remained jailed with no bond on Saturday night.

The horrid case began in March of 2017 – when a shivering, naked toddler was found by a neighbor’s dog.

The inhumane conditions in the rodent-infested filthy house included floors coated with feces from several types of animals, dirty diapers, and rotting garbage.

Mackowiak helped getting the girls out of the filth and into a nice foster home setting where they are thriving.

28-year-old Brent Forsyth of Menominee, MI was booked Friday night on at least three charges.

The charges a similar to a case against him last November – and that indicates he was sentenced on Friday – with a CCW charge dropped.

In December 2015, Schultz was charged with stealing two cars from an Escanaba business.
Schultz was charged with three five-year felonies – malicious destruction of property valued between $1,000 and $20,000, plus two counts of unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle.

Two other suspects were involved.

The cars were recovered by Escanaba Police.
After pleading guilty, Schultz was sentenced in Feb. 2016 to nine months in jail and ordered to pay over $10,00 in restitution.

25-year-old Timothy Jansen of Marquette, MI was booked into the Marquette County Jail (MCJ) at 10:24 p.m. ET Friday night, Feb. 9, 2018 – and released on a $2,500 bond about 40 minutes later.
Jansen is charged with the traffic offense of failure to report an accident.

(Escanaba, MI) – Two Delta County women were arrested this morning on obstruction of justice charges.

 

33-year-old Kathryn “Katie” Ann Sjogren of Gladstone, MI was booked into the Delta County Detention Center (DCDC) at 1:38 a.m. this morning ,Thurs., Feb. 8, 2018.

21-year-old Mariah Ann Phinney of Wilson, MI was booked into the DCDC at 1:03 a.m. today.

Both Sjogren and Phinney are charged with obstruction of justice.
Bond has not been set in either case.

A confessed burglar, Sjogren has addresses listed in Escanaba and Bark River, MI.

In July 2016, Sjogren was sentenced to eight months in jail after pleading guilty to receiving stolen property in Delta County Circuit Court.
Sjogren was charged with breaking and entering into businesses and larceny from numerous vehicles in Gladstone.

In a plea bargain, Sjogren pleaded guilty to receiving and concealing stolen property valued between $1,000 and $20,000. The other felonies were dropped.

Sjogren told the judge she was a drug addict – and confessed to stealing jewelry, and winter clothing from The Blessed Nest between December 2015 and January 2016.

The businesses was broken into twice.

The Gladstone Department of Public Safety cracked the case during a three month probe.

All other charges were dismissed. Sjogren was ordered to pay restitution.
In January 2016, Sjogren, then 31, was sentenced to seven days in jail for drugged driving.
Sjogren pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs. She was order to pay nearly $1,000 in fines/costs.

It is not clear if the cases are related
Law enforcement officials have not released information on the arrest or what the women allegedly did to get an obstruction charge.

18-year-old Richard Lightford of Marquette, MI was booked into the Marquette County Jail (MCJ) at 12:30 a.m. ET this morning, Feb. 8, 2018.
Lightford is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Bond has not been set for Lightford.
Police have not released information on the charges.

Matta is charged with felony first-degree retail fraud.

22-year-old Jushan Lamar Johnson, Jr. of M-35 in Gladstone, MI was booked into the DCDC on Wednesday on a sexual assault charge. Johnson was booked into jail about 6:15 p.m. on Wed., Dec. 20, 2017.

Johnson is charged with fourth degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC) using force or coercion. Johnson appears to be a Muskegon, MI native.

Details of the charge have not been released. Bond is set at $7,500.

38-year-old Jameson Hanford of Escanaba, MI was booked into the Delta County Detention center at 1:20 this morning Thurs., Dec. 21, 2017 on two charges on two charges.
Hanford is charged with delivery/manufacture of a controlled substance (narcotics or cocaine) and failure to pay child support/leaving state.
Hanford is a Oshkosh, WI native.
Bond has not been set on either charge. Details of the arrest are not known.

Free on bond for previous felony charge, 37-year-old Joseph John Manning of Marquette, MI was booked back into the Marquette County at 1:22 p.m. this afternoon, Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017.

Manning is charged with larceny from a building, unlawfully driving away an automobile, and second offense driving with a suspended/revoked license “or substance offense.”

Bond has not been set. Details of the new charges have not been released by police.

Manning is already charged with felony making a false police report for allegedly lying to police. Marquette Police and officers statewide expended lots of effort on the investigation.

(Marquette, MI) – A Marquette County man is tonight charged with filing a bogus assault complaint with Marquette Police and wasting police officers time who issued a statewide look out for the people he unjustly fingered.

37-year-old Joseph John Manning of Marquette, MI is charged with making a false police report. Marquette Police and officers statewide expended lots of effort on the investigation.

Manning has posted bond and is out of the Marquette County Jail on a felony charge of lying to police.

Kunzler tells U.P. Breaking News she and Robideau were mortified be the subject of a statewide manhunt on the false assault allegation. She said the suspect – Manning – is an ex-boyfriend. Kunzler and Robideau are friends.

Kunzler said its especially upsetting because she has never been in trouble in her life.

The ordeal “has been awful,” she said.

Kunzler said she was stunned to find out that police wanted to question her – adding she wasn’t even in the Upper Peninsula the night of the false assault allegation. Police had to take the report seriously until holes were poked in Manning’s stories.

The alleged false report of a crime happened in Marquette at approximately 11:20 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017.

Manning was lodged in the Marquette County Jail at about 8:20 p.m. on Tues., Nov. 28, 2017 and released on bond Tuesday morning.

A Big Bay Native, Manning is reportedly now working at Checker Cab in Marquette.

Manning is free on a $5,000 bond.

(Marquette, MI) – Two Gwinn men were booked today on burglary-related charges including one who served time for possession of methamphetamine and has quiet a history as a brawler including with police and its been a year since he was paroled.

30-year-old Chase Allen Dunklee of Gwinn, MI was booked into the Marquette County Jail just before noon on Fri., Dec. 15, 2017.

Dunklee is charged with second degree home invasion. His bond is $20,000. Dunklee and his brothers have been arrested many times over the years.

In June 2015, the four Dunklee brothers were arrested after a midnight fight outside Ole Towne Tavern, a bar in Hastings, MI. Noah, Jeremy, Thomas and Chase Dunklee were arrested for fighting – who had to be restrained after being confrontational with police. Police found marijuana on Tomas and Chase.
