(Marquette, MI) – Back in jail again – it’s not nice to allegedly lie to the police – or do any of a host of accused crimes

More charges filed against a Marquette County man already accused of filing a bogus assault complaint with Marquette Police and wasting police officers time who issued a statewide look out for the people unjustly fingered.

Free on bond for previous felony charge, 37-year-old Joseph John Manning of Marquette, MI was booked back into the Marquette County at 1:22 p.m. this afternoon, Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017.

Manning is charged with larceny from a building, unlawfully driving away an automobile, and second offense driving with a suspended/revoked license “or substance offense.”

Bond has not been set. Details of the new charges have not been released by police.

Manning is already charged with felony making a false police report for allegedly lying to police. Marquette Police and officers statewide expended lots of effort on the investigation.

(Marquette, MI) – A Marquette County man is tonight charged with filing a bogus assault complaint with Marquette Police and wasting police officers time who issued a statewide look out for the people he unjustly fingered.

37-year-old Joseph John Manning of Marquette, MI is charged with making a false police report. Marquette Police and officers statewide expended lots of effort on the investigation.

Manning has posted bond and is out of the Marquette County Jail on a felony charge of lying to police.

Kunzler tells U.P. Breaking News she and Robideau were mortified be the subject of a statewide manhunt on the false assault allegation. She said the suspect – Manning – is an ex-boyfriend. Kunzler and Robideau are friends.

Kunzler said its especially upsetting because she has never been in trouble in her life.

The ordeal “has been awful,” she said.

Kunzler said she was stunned to find out that police wanted to question her – adding she wasn’t even in the Upper Peninsula the night of the false assault allegation. Police had to take the report seriously until holes were poked in Manning’s stories.

The alleged false report of a crime happened in Marquette at approximately 11:20 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017.

Manning was lodged in the Marquette County Jail at about 8:20 p.m. on Tues., Nov. 28, 2017 and released on bond Tuesday morning.

A Big Bay Native, Manning is reportedly now working at Checker Cab in Marquette.

Manning is free on a $5,000 bond.
