(Republic, MI) – Michigan State Police Thursday morning were searching for an alleged drunken minor behind the wheel – who clipped a utility pole in Republic, allegedly fled the scene leaving behind blood, then was accused of taking another vehicle.

The latest incident happened in Republic, MI just after 8 a.m. ET this morning, Thursday, March 15, 2018. The suspect was believed apprehended.

A 17-year-old Republic youth allegedly crashed a vehicle into a utility pole – sheering off that pole and causing a power-outage that make take four-hours to repair – not far from the Republic-Michigamme School on Maple St.

Saying power crews estimate it will take four hours to re-energize the lines and repair the pole, a MSP trooper described the power outage area to a dispatcher as:

“From the M-95 and County Road 601 intersection to Hawks Drive; and on Hawks Drive from the school to roughly the bridge will be shutdown.”

Known as Hawks Drive to some, the road goes by several names including CR L.E.

It was the second time in less than six hours that mayhem was reported on the highways and byways of Marquette County.

About 2:40 a.m. today, a man who had allegedly pulled off a home invasion – and allegedly crashed a mini-van in Marquette into two guardrails on Wright Street – and sped off at high speed on just the rims causing a huge shower of sparks – eventually abandoning the vehicle in Trowbridge Park:

While inspecting the abandoned trashed vehicle, troopers became concerned that someone was injured in the crash.

“There is blood in vehicle,” a trooper radioed from the scene.

Shortly after the crash, 911 received reports the 17-year-old suspect was passed out in an allegedly stolen vehicle on the back road (Cut-Across Road) between the Greenwood Reservoir and Republic.

U.P. Breaking News has the suspect’s name, however since it appears clear that criminal charges will be filed – we are withholding his identity at this time. In addition, he allegedly was said to have been making suicidal comments.
