Shocker!! Warden married rapist – Say it isn’t so – the new female warden at Marquette Branch Prison married and had a child with a convicted rapist who is on the Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry

URGENT URGENT URGENT – U.P. Breaking News Bulletin – 2-14-18 – 10:10 p.m. ET –

The Odd Couple: New Marquette warden married a convicted rapist – the heart wants what the heart wants

Marquette Branch Prison Warden has received many promotions while married to a MDOC sex offender

By Greg Peterson

Editor’s note: Wardens at Marquette Branch are notoriously hard to reach – however we’d love to hear from the new warden

(Marquette, MI) – The new Marquette Branch Prison warden is rightfully being celebrated as the first woman to become warden at the prison – but she also is the first MDOC warden to marry a convicted rapist.

In January 2018, she took the helm of the 128-year-old Marquette Branch Prison.

On her Facebook page the warden goes by the name Erica Sholl (Huss) – however is much better known to the public as Warden Erica Huss.

Erica Sholl Huss FB 2
Her hubby, Daniel Clyde Sholl was convicted in August 1983 of third-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC) involving force or coercion.

Mr. Sholl is listed on the Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry.

She is even Sholl’s emergency contact on MDOC records, sources say.
Daniel Clyde Sholl 2
Daniel Clyde Sholl mug 1

The 57-year-old former marine last registered with the MDOC sex offender address requirement was on Dec. 12, 2017.

His official address on the registry is 3989 10th Avenue in Sears, MI. That means he is apparently not with her in Marquette.

Daniel Clyde Sholl registry map sex offender

Sources say the couple apparently met when he was serving time at the Ionia Correctional Facility (ICF) – while she was a MDOC case manager.
Erica Sholl FB 1In 2014, Huss was promoted to assistant warden at Ionia – until there was an escape involving a prisoner in her custody.

Huss was then transferred to Marquette Branch Prison (MBP) – “instead of demoting or firing” her for “endangerment of public safety,” sources say.

We will publish another story in the near future about how bad things allegedly are at the Marquette Branch Prison.

MBP Corrections Officers have “been treated poorly, had their jobs threatened or have been intimidated by Warden Huss.”

“Corrections officer morale is at an all-time low,” sources say, adding she has intentionally stirred up the COs – many have quit – and is “greatly jeopardizing” public safety.
More in our next story.

Federal Judge Robert Holmes Bell sent many heavily armed and murderous drug dealers, gangs, gun-runners and just plain bad people to prison  – from the Upper Peninsula and down to Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo and Benton Harbor.

In the federal system there is no parole, so when he sentences someone 20 or 30 years – that is what they serve.

Hey – Judge Bell even has a judge-looking appearance and official kind of name – just saying.

He was named (middle) after one of America’s most famous jurists.

There was even a brief filed last week with re-assignment of Judge Bell’s many criminal and civiol cases due to “Inactive senior status effective (tomorrow, Tuesday) January 31, 2017– in legal jargon – but it means retirement:

Judge Bell is scheduled to take inactive senior status effective January 31, 2017, and will be unavailable to conclude proceedings in these matter”

Judge Bell’s Final Sentencing:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, January 26, 2017

Grand Rapids Man To Spend Five Years In Prison For Trafficking Firearms

GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN – Donte Timothy Bacon, 31, of Grand Rapids, was sentenced to 60 months’ imprisonment, Acting U.S. Attorney Andrew Birge announced today.

In August, Bacon pled guilty to selling a firearm to a prohibited person and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. Charles Lee Samuels, 28, earlier was sentenced to 18 months in prison for his lesser role in the crimes.

On five different occasions in August and September 2014, Bacon sold a firearm to a person who was not permitted to possess it under federal law. One of the firearms was sold with a high-capacity magazine. Two of those firearms had been purchased by Bacon and Samuels and were sold after Bacon removed the serial numbers. During the final transaction, Bacon and Samuels used a hand-grinder to remove the serial number at the time of sale.

In his final sentencing before retiring from the bench, U.S. District Judge Robert Holmes Bell observed the seriousness of trafficking firearms. Judge Bell ordered Bacon to serve three years of supervised release following his term of custody and expressed his hope that Bacon will return as a productive member to his community.

“The diversion of firearms for unlawful purposes or to those who cannot legally possess them endangers each and every member of our society,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Birge. “The U.S. Attorney’s Office will prosecute those who willfully circumvent federal firearms laws designed to protect the public.”

“Selling firearms to prohibited individuals contributes to the cycle of gun violence plaguing our neighborhoods,” said Special Agent in Charge Robin Shoemaker of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. “ATF will continue to use all available resources to put a stop to illegal gun sales. Let this conviction stand as a warning to others willing to put profit before public safety.”

The ATF conducted the investigation, with assistance from the Grand Rapids Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Justin M. Presant and Alexis M. Sanford prosecuted the case.

(Marquette, MI) – A couple who founded a now-closed emergency medical services business in Schoolcraft County have filed Chapter 13 bankruptcy plans to repay up to $1 million dollars to creditors – this after their company closed earlier this year.

the-keskimakis-fb-2

Tracy Alan Keskimaki, 50, and his wife Dr. Shelly Diane Baker-Keskimaki, 48, started Rapid Response One EMS, Inc. in Jan. 2014 – and two years later the business “left the area.” The couple signed a plan to repay creditors on Nov. 22, 2016 after filing for Chapter 13 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Marquette, MI.

u-s-treasury-department-tax-bill-142-grand

The couple reported they owe approximately $142,000 to the feds for unpaid employment taxes. On his Facebook page, Tracy Keskimaki lists himself as the Former CEO & Founder at Rapid Response One EMS, Inc.

Keskimaki currently lists himself as an over-the-road Truck Driver at Roehl Transport and owner of Tracy’s Cleaning Services LLC. Meanwhile, Dr. Shelly D. Baker-Keskimaki, O.D. PC apparently owns the The Vision & Learning Center in Manistique.

When Rapid Response One EMS stopped serving Schoolcraft County in January 2016 – the emergency services were turned over to Manistique EMS. Operated by Manistique Department of Public Safety, Manistique EMS filled the community’s medical needs with assistance from Inwood and Doyle townships, officials have said.

In a 10-page plan to repay creditors, the Keskimakis outline how payments will be structured. However, no matter who they pay – they still owe a huge employment tax bills to the feds – and that will not go away.

The couple lists their home, several vehicles, a camper and a tractor among their assets. They owe money to a wide list of creditors including mBank in Manistique, MI; BMO Harris Bank and Kubota Credit Corporation – both located in Carol Stream, IL; and U.S. Bank in Egan, MN.

The couple owe more than $142,000 to the U.S. Treasury Department for unpaid employment taxes. It’s unclear – for which of the couple’s businesses – they owe “employment taxes.”

In the bankruptcy forms, the couple answered “yes” to the question: “Are your debts primarily business debts? Business debts are debts that you incurred to obtain money for a business or investment or through the operation of the business or investment.”

The Keskimakis estimate they have up to 49 creditors. The couple’s assets and liabilities were both each estimated at between $500,000 to $1 million.

The couple signed the Chapter 13 filing on Oct. 25, 2016. The case has been assigned to U.S. District Court Judge Scott W. Dales of the United States Bankruptcy Court Western District of Michigan.

The Keskimakis are represented by Sault Ste. Marie, MI attorney David E. Bulson of David E. Bulson, LLC. Under U.S. Bankruptcy laws, filing under Chapter 13 is a “voluntary repayment plan for individuals with regular income.”

Rapid Response makes quiet exit from area

Manistique EMS now sole provider within city limits

MANISTIQUE – Just short of two years serving Schoolcraft County, Rapid Response One EMS, Inc. has left the area. Manistique EMS, operated by the Manistique Department of Public Safety, will now be the primary provider of EMS services within the city, with assistance from Inwood and Doyle townships in the county.

According to MPS Director Ken Golat, his department received a phone call on Jan. 13, stating that Rapid Response would no longer be serving the area, beginning that day. Despite the abrupt notice, Golat said his team has had a “seamless” transition into once again being the primary provider of area EMS services.

With 35 medical technicians on staff, including 17 paramedics, 11 EMT Specialists, and seven EMTs, Golat explained Manistique Public Safety will be prepared to address any of the citizen’s emergency or medical transport needs. The department also boasts four ambulances, along with rescue gear such as snowmobile and ORV equipment.

City approves EMS ordinance

Manistique EMS will serve as primary responder

MANISTIQUE – A controversial city ordinance passed Monday, amid a crowd rarely seen during regular Manistique City Council meetings. Although public comments were few, residents filled council chambers, even lining the hallway of Manistique City Hall, to learn the fate of a regulation deeming Manistique EMS the primary responder within city limits.

The ordinance came to light two weeks ago, introduced during a city council meeting as a method to “protect” the city’s interest in the EMS realm. The introduction came on the heels of the announcement of a new business – Rapid Response One, Inc. – establishing itself in Manistique.

Shelly Baker, she and her husband, Tracy Keskimaki, an advanced emergency medical technician, recognized the need for Advanced Life Support versus the limited advanced life support currently offered by MPS. That is why they decided to create Rapid Response One EMS.

“We are currently utilizing an antiquated, outdated system of emergency care at a very basic level,” she said. “Manistique EMS, run by Manistique Public Safety, has declined to advance their EMS services for Manistique city residents and the surrounding townships that they service.”

U.P. Breaking News Exclusive: Upper Peninsula resident – who now lives in Kansas – wins a personal injury award against the Escanaba Walmart Supercenter in Delta County

Pat Farmer has lived in Delta and Oakland Counties – and a federal judge in Marquette has approved a judgment against Walmart for a slip and fall

By Greg Peterson
U.P. Breaking News

(Marquette, MI) – Walmart has agreed to pay damages after a woman was seriously injured when she slipped and fell on an oily slippery substance at the Escanaba Supercenter so a federal judge in Marquette approved the award and dismissed a federal personal injury lawsuit two weeks ago.

In August 2015, Pratisksha “Pat” (Gandhi) Farmer filed a federal court civil suit in Marquette, MI charging the company with personal injury claim due to negligence.

A “case evaluation award” of $35,000 was agreed upon by all parties.

On Nov. 16, 2016, U.S. District Court Judge Robert Holmes Bell approved the award by downstate evaluators and dismissed the case.

At the time of the fall, Farmer was living from “time to time” in Delta County and in downstate Oakland County. She has since moved to Kansas.

Pat Farmer is self-employed business owner who studied at Northern Michigan University and went to BEST High School, according to her Facebook page – that also indicates she has strong family ties and travels often.

Farmer’s Facebook page states she is Business Owner from February 10, 2010 to present in Escanaba, MI – and owner of the Indigo Salon & Spa (location not listed) and lists herself as a self-employed business president in Wichita, Kansas.

esky-walmart-google-2

The slip and fall accident happened on Sept. 5, 2012 at the Escanaba Walmart Supercenter located at 601 N. Lincoln Road in Escanaba, MI.

“It was the duty of (Walmart) to exercise ordinary care in providing and maintaining the shopping area so as not to negligently cause injury to customers using its shopping area,” the lawsuit charged.

“Disregarding its duty” to shoppers, Walmart “negligently failed to remove an oil or other slippery product on the floor of the shopping area within a reasonable time after its hazardous condition was known or should have been known” through “reasonable care,” the lawsuit states.

Farmer “slipped and fell on the oil or other slippery product” and “sustained injuries, disability, pain, loss of income and medical expenses,” the lawsuit states.

That slippery substance was never identified in court papers, however at one point Walmart was claiming it was afraid trade secrets could be revealed – so Judge Bell signed an order to prohibit public disclosure of Walmart’s concerns.

Expert witnesses were lined up by both sides in case the lawsuit went to trial.

A settlement conference/final pretrial conference set for May 10, 2017 was set after an extension request “due to difficulties scheduling” the depositions of Farmer and a former Wal-Mart Store employee who moved “to Kansas and Florida respectively.”

That conference was cancelled after all sides agreed on the settlement.

The evaluators were Grand Rapids attorneys Stephen L. Grimm of Stephen Grimm, P.C.; J. Paul Janes of Gruel, Mills, Nims & Pylman, LLP; and Thomas F. Koernke of Koernke & Crampton, P.C.
