(Green Bay, WI) – A U.S. Army veteran who admitted he made up horror stories to fake having PTSD and lied about physical disabilities is on the way to federal prison.
The case of 60-year-old Dean Donald Young of Green Bay, WI received national attention when he was indicted 13 months ago.
Dean Donald Young FB 1Young’s Facebook page states he was a sergeant in the 82nd Airborne.
Young pleaded guilty to wire fraud.
Young allegedly ripped off over $400,000 from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs by faking physical ailments and claiming Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other mental issues over bogus incidents. He is a retired supervisor at Georgia Pacific.
Young was sentenced to 21 months in a federal prison Wed., Nov. 29, 2017 by U.S. District Court Judge William C. Griesbach in Green Bay after pleading guilty to one count of the indictment in exchange for the federal prosecutors dropping the other felony charges as part of a plea agreement.
After he is released from federal prison, Young will be on three years supervised release. He was ordered to pay restitution at a rate of not less than $100 per month. The federal prosecutor in the case is Assistant U.S. Attorney William J. Roach.
