(Forest County, Wisconsin) – Despite the best efforts of eight fire departments, a huge Monday night fire completely destroyed a popular supper club and motel just across the Upper Peninsula border in Forest County, Wisconsin.

Officials are now doing search and rescue to make sure no motel guests perished in the fire.

Sources say fire officials are investigating the cause. However, the blaze reportedly spread quickly because the motel did not have firewalls between rooms – that are designed to stop fire from spreading.

The blaze is reported at Cheney’s Supper Club & Motel – located in the town of Laona in Forest County, Wisconsin. It is located about 44 miles southwest of Kingsford, MI.

The address is 5527 U.S. 8 in Laona, WI.

Eight fire departments were still on the scene late Monday. The mutual aid call went out out for miles around.
