(Marquette, MI) – The victim of a freak accident in Marquette – was pinned underneath her own tire.
Even if she could not see it – her front license plate stated:
“Enter His gates with thanksgiving
And into His courts with Praise:
Be Thankful unto Him and bless His name.”
That elderly woman is lucky to be alive after she was run over by her own car while trying to visit graves at the Park Cemetery in Marquette.
The Marquette Fire Department and other emergency responders rescued 72-year-old Rebecca Johnson of Marquette – including paramedics from U.P. Health System – Marquette.
Police said the victim was knocked over by her vehicle – that rolled onto her.
She was rushed to the hospital.
A bystander is being hailed as a hero – Don Ohman – ran to the victim, stopped the vehicle, called 911 and comforted the victim til help arrived.
The front tire of the victim’s Chevrolet Equinox landed on her chest at about 12:230 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2016 – and bystanders did not want to cause more injuries by moving the car or trying to drive it off of the women – who was badly hurt but the injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, Marquette Police said.
