(Marquette, MI) – Few details are know about charges filed in an apparent attack on a corrections officer at the Marquette Branch Prison.

37-year-old Milton “Bull Dog” Walter Bell was charged at 7:30 a.m. today, Tues., Juan.16, 2018. Bell is charged with felony of assault of an employee at a place of confinement.
Bell was scheduled to be released today from the Marquette Branch Prison. His maximum release date is today, Jan. 16, 2018, according to Michigan prison records.

Bell is lodged in the Marquette County Jail and has been charged with a felony. It appears he was about to be released from prison today, and that was stopped by the arrest. It is not clear if the assault occurred at the Marquette Branch Prison or elsewhere like the hospital.

Bell has a lengthy rap sheet having served state prison time for a wide variety of downstate vicious felony assaults – including an attack on a state prison employee in 2010 in Lenawee County, MI.

On New Year’s Eve 2016, a Marquette Branch Prison corrections officer was attacked. It is not clear if this case is connected. MDOC refused to release info on the attack of  that CO.

It is not know how badly the employee at “a place of confinement” was injured – when the attacked occurred. However the attack was serious enough to have a felony charge filed. Bell is being held on a $50,000 bond.
