Asikainen appeared before  Judge Maloney on Nov. 8, 2016 in Marquette, MI.

Asikainen was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release.

The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team and the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs made the arrests as part of an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking on tribal lands across northern Michigan. Ass part of their plea agreements, both must cooperate with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) plus Michigan State Police as the investigation into U.P. drug trafficking continues.

Both entered guilty pleas were accepted by U.S. Magistrate Judge Timothy P. Greeley in Marquette.
In the August 3, 2016 plea agreement, federal prosecutors dropped the additional charges against Asikainen and agreed not to move forward with forfeiture proceedings.

The federal prosecutor in the morphine and marijuana cases is Assistant United States Attorney Maarten Vermaat on behalf of United States Attorney for the Western District of Michigan Patrick A. Miles, Jr. in Grand Rapids. The cases were handled by the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan Northern Division

(Harvey, MI) – Two violent and abused juvenile runaways from Teaching Family Homes could be sent to a facility for violent children after seriously assaulting staff and doing thousands of dollars worth of damage on Saturday night at the facility located in Harvey, MI

The two girls are in their early teens. Its unclear how long they had been free from their court-ordered stay at Teaching Family Homes of Upper Michigan.

They were reported as escapees at about 7 p.m.

A felony investigation is underway after the girls allegedly created such a huge scene and mess that numerous Marquette County deputies had to rush to Teaching Family Homes. The girls allegedly punch holes in numerous walls including a dining room. Staff received unknown injuries but were not taken to the hospital.

However – at least one of the teens was taken by ambulance to be evaluated at U.P. Health System – Marquette.
One of the girls is alleging she was assault while on the lamb – claiming she was thrown down some stairs at a place where the teens hid for a while.
At least one of the girls has been the victim of sexual abuse and allegedly became a predator at age 9 involving young Ishpeming boys in her neighborhood (scroll down to read more).

Please do not identify these girls if you recognize them – we believe these juveniles have privacy rights – even though it was a wild night.

Many people who know one of the girls have feared her life just keeps going off the tracks – after all sorts of shocking allegations that she had made and that others have made – like sex for cigarettes.

Though she may now be 13ish – she is definitely one of “The Raging Children of the Upper Peninsula” between ages 7 and 17 who have gone absolutely wild. that U.P. Breaking News reported. Kids across the U.P. have assaulted teachers (one punched in face last week) – and generally gone wild even injuring grandparents and parents.

From the Keweenaw to all edges of the U.P., U.P. sex crimes and offenders have kids running scared today and some suspects just don’t learn to register

U.P. Breaking News

At least four incidents involving sex crimes were reported today by females of all ages across the U.P. and one shows you never know who northern Michigan police might meet in a traffic stop.

Here are the four unrelated U.P. cases that just happened.
sex-offender-charles-cole-jr-1

First two cases out of the Eastern U.P. today (Sat., Nov. 26, 2016) – one a sex offender felony arrest and the other a sex offender scare reported by two young girls.

This afternoon, an Eastern U.P. law enforcement officer made a traffic stop  and arrested a sex offender on a felony warrant out of Chippewa County. The warrant was a felony but referred the 91st District Court in Sault Ste. Marie.

31-year-old Charles Edward Cole, Jr. was arrested and taken to the Chippewa County jail.

Cole is accused of failing to register (latest address) as a sex offender register in violation of state law. Cole is accused of “failure to comply with” the Michigan Sexual Offenders Registration Act “third  notice.”

“Subject in custody,” reported the law enforcement officer who nabbed Cole.

The arrest apparently went without incident although an officer’s safety caution warning involving Cole is included in the police data base.

MI Sex Offender Registry banner.jpg

Now the unrelated case in the eastern U.P.

Two girls – on reportedly 8 years old – reported a known sex offender “Bo” had pushed them into the bushes and followed them to a bathroom – allegedly knocking on the door.  Never heard the outcome of that call.

Now the sexual assault in the Copper Country. Earlier today a female in Houghton County reported a sexual assault. We are withholding more information including information detailing her initially reporting crime to police in a U.P. village.

Meanwhile in Marquette County tonight to court-ordered early teen girls fled a facility that includes victims of extreme sexual abuse. These girls are not allowed to leave without permission. We are not going to release their names.

However, U.P. Breaking News is familiar with one of the girls and almost did a story about her a couple years ago.

A victim of abuse, she then became an alleged offender – and was actually was accused – on several occasions over past few years – of being a sexual predator on young boys in her Ishpeming area neighborhoods.

It started when she was 9 years old – and she is well-known to many residents (please do not post her name!!!!!). We have gone to great lengths to not identify these girls but also inform. We have met this girl and pray she has a beautiful future.

The two runaways were returned but there is a huge fight going on at the facility as we write this story. They allegedly have assaulted staff knocked holes in walls including dining room. Several police were sent at about 9:39 p.m. just as we published the story.

“The juveniles are out of control assaulting officials,” the call went out to responding officers.

This is just one weekend in the U.P.

Juveniles are suspected of starting a small fire under the Gazebo at the Island in Marquette – and its unclear if there is a connection.

Audio tape of the time just after the shooting as a MSP Trooper is hurt, and the suspect suffering multiple gunshot wounds after allegedly approaching the cop with a chain saw.
This tape speaks for itself – and it shows what our emergency folks have to deal with everyday and during a major event.

This all happened last night Mon., Nov. 21, 2016 in western edge of Chippewa County, MI near Newberry, MI.
The 100 MPH high speed chase ended in a wreck and a brief confrontation – leaving two down.

UPDATE – but scroll down for more info 11-22-16 6:47 a.m.
We have been duly corrected in ref. to on our editorial opinion about an ambulance being rerouted.

We were corrected by the the head of the Chippewa EMS moments ago.
U.P.Breaking News believes what this paramedic supervisor said.
So -sorry our editorial opinion has changed and was mostly wrong.
I like to admit when we are wrong (editorial or not) – and scroll down to see why (editorial part) – its has nothing to do with the shooting – but the ambulance that had to be rerouted.

UPDATE 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016
M-28 has reopened following the chainsaw/gun battle.

UPDATE 2:50 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016 M-28 Closure Update

Officials have called for two flatbed wreckers at the scene of the shooting on M-28 on the western edge of Chippewa County.
One wrecker for the wrecked MSP car – and the second wrecker for the wounded suspect’s vehicle.

Once the wreckers load the two vehicles on the flatbeds – the wreckers will be given an official MSP escort to the Michigan State Police – Sault Ste. Marie Post/Detachment.
This also means officials are getting a little bit closer to reopening the major east/west highway.

UPDATE – WITNESS TELLS WHAT HE SAW to U.P. Breaking News:

“There was a chainsaw running at the scene when we pulled up,” the witness says.  A MSP “trooper went over and turned off the chainsaw.

URGENT URGENT URGENT – Monday, Nov. 22, 2016- witness tells of chainsaw and suspect in bad shape in middle of highway.
A witness tells U.P. Breaking News:
“There was a chainsaw running at the scene when we pulled up,” the witness says.
“We were the first civilians at the seen,” the witness said.
“Perhaps he had that in hand threatening the troopers. Don’t know that for sure though. He had already been shot and was laying motionless in the middle of M 28 upon our arrival.”
U.P. Breaking News has also learned that officials are on the scene of another location involved in the incident – on Hungry Hollow Road.

Further the witness told U.P. Breaking News:

An “officer ran up and told us to turn around and leave,” the witness said. “Another trooper went over and turned off the chain saw.”

“The man was motionless and in cuffs when we arrived. Did see him move as we were leaving. Believe he was unconscious at first as his eyes were closed and he had a blank and frankly dead looking face.”

UPDATE URGENT URGENT:
Crime spree – that involved multiple vehicles crashes – allegedly preceded high speed chase and MSP shooting

2016-valley-med-flight-logo(Sault Ste Marie, Michigan area) – About 11:06 p.m. tonight a Valley Med Flight helicopter took off from Newberry, Michigan with the police shooting victim and with Paramedics aboard.

Paramedics were working on the shooting victim as they lifted off from Newberry en-route to the landing pad at U.P. Health System-Marquette.

U.P. Breaking News was contacted early Tuesday (today – 11-22-16)  by a witness who says he was first civilian on the scene after the police shooting (see his comments at end of our story in reader comments). That witness claims he saw the suspect laying in the middle of M-28 with gunshot wounds – and nearby a chainsaw.
Did he threaten cops with a chainsaw?
One of dozens and dozens of unknown questions.

We have been told the shooting victim’s first name is Josh and his family has been notified through various means. U.P. Breaking News has not yet confirmed his last name.

“Josh” was shot multiple times by a Michigan State Police trooper after going on alleged crime spree.
U.P. residents are lucky to have Valley Med Flight out of Escanaba that saves many lives in all weather.

Now our exclusive details about what led up to the shooting. We suspected these details were true but another source just came forward who is accurate – and has ties all over Chippewa County. But first even newer information:

OK we blew it – the head of Chippewa EMS says I am wrong  with this editorial:
She says the ambulance was always on duty in their township and the detour was 10 miles – furthermore she says it did not inconvenience the paramedics or put anyone in danger for many reasons. She had a reasonable set of facts – and we believe her:
EDITORIAL – MADDENING – SHAME SHAME SHAME – The Chippewa EMS ambulance needed to get back on duty fast last night – because of emergency coverage issues.

The ambulance requested to go through the roadblock on m-28 – but troopers apparently did not want paramedics seeing what was happening or what they were doing on the scene – and that ambulance took a detour of a couple hours to get back to serve the citizens of Sault Ste. Marie. This ambulance could have gone through without messing up the crime scene (many ways) but it was kept secret. This is horrendous.
Sadly U.P. Breaking News has noticed a certain arrogance by some high-ranking MSP on east end of U.P. – and it is hard to understand – and very suspicious! While their counterparts in other areas are open and honest about things. It reminds me of the cowboy cops days in Georgia – now that MSP has shot two people in eastern U.P. in past few months.

This (Monday) afternoon, the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department and MSP were dispatched to an address on Hungry Hollow Road for a guy named “Josh” that had recently been released from rehab where he had undergone treatment for meth.
We have not confirmed Josh’s last name and the may not be from the area.
“Josh” had allegedly smashed into several cars with his white Dodge truck.

There was a weapon involved, as he was highly agitated and unstable.
At that point Chippewa County Central Dispatch was attempting to get further information.

Before police arrived it was determined that the suspect “Josh,” was at his parents house and had smashed into their vehicles with his truck. Not clear if drugs or alcohol were involved.
“The weapon involved was a gun that his father was threatening him with, to leave the property,” our source says.
It is possible that “Josh” may have smashed some windows on the home.
Josh left before the police arrived and the father put his gun away.
We have no reports the suspect was armed when shot – however he was allege3dly throwing objects out of his car like tools during a crazy high speed chase on snowy highways.

Update 1o p.m. 11-21-16

MDOT and local road commissions are deciding what traffic to send where – including trucks. M-28 will be closed at least all night.
So prepare for varying detours. Several detours have been set up on both ends of the police shooting scene.

By Greg Peterson

Update 8:30 p.m. 11-21-16

URGENT – MDOT please call the MSP or Chippewa County Central Dispatch – urgent!

M-28 closed in Chippewa County from Hulbert Corners to M-123 (traffic rerouted down to U.S. 2)

All Luce county deputies and auxiliary deputies have been called into work to assist with traffic control after this high speed chase and shooting in Chippewa County

Eastern U.P. chimney fire should be strong warning for all of us now that the snow flies

Rudyard chimney fire is an example for ever last Upper Peninsula resident who enjoys a delightful winter fire – or just to feel cozy when winter seems endless

The Upper Peninsula winter is officially here with a howl – and last winter was long

So clean your chimney today – get dirty or hand over the green – just do it!

By Greg Peterson
U.P. Breaking News

(Marquette, Michigan) – Today’s chimney fire in Chippewa County and the snowstorm are huge flashing signs – clean your chimney today!

Every year hundreds of chimney fires are reported across the Upper Peninsula.
Sometimes by people who thought they could go one more season without a chimney cleaning. Just one more U.P. winter without having to do the dirty work – or pay for it.

There are so many ways for your chimney to be plugged – my way back in the day grandfather lost a finger in Foster City as they used anvils then to clean chimneys.

His hand/fingers were hit by the anvil- and in those days rushing to a hospital in Iron Mountain was a pretty huge and difficult affair (Harry John Peterson, son of Swan Peterson).

So all you geniuses with a better way to clean your chimney please be careful – and many get hurt every year falling from roofs in the U.P. – whether cleaning a chimney or pushing snow off their roof.

2016-chimney-fire-12016-chimney-fire-22016-chimney-fire-42016-chimney-fire-e2016-chimney-fire-3

Cleaning chimneys is important because its the lives of your family at stake – and your life – and sometimes chimney fires spread to the house – or severely damage a home.

It’s not always the size of the fire but noxious fumes and smoke that makes a sleepy person drift off into death. Or severe brain damage. Even fighting a chimney fire is a messy affair and can increase the damage – while saving the home.

On Sunday afternoon, Sun., Nov. 20,2016 the Kinross Township Volunteer Fire Department was sent to a chimney fire in in the eastern U.P.

The residence e is reportedly occupied by the family of 53-year-old Andrew G. Gable and Jennifer A. Gable at 15918 S. Johnson Road in Rudyard, MI

11-13-16 11:15 a.m. Sunday morning Update:
A GPS calculation puts the approximate size of the Bay Mills/Mission Hills wildfire at about 14 acres – and in very rugged terrain. Fire officials walked the entire edge of the fire today – and it did not spread overnight – but there are smoldering hot spots creating some smoke.
Many have it dubbed the “Mission Hills Fire” because it was on USFS lands on edge of tribal lands/reservation.

The cause remains under investigation and we have heard conflicting info.

However, with lightening – it almost has to have some human factor involved. Have not heard any reports of lightening.

If you have photos please share on our facebook page or email them

U.P. Breaking News – and I think we speak on behalf of the community – say “Thank you” again to all the fire departments and firefighters who jumped on this blaze quickly – and risked their lives – in terrible weather and terrain – and prevented it from spreading and – stopped the wildfire from destroying homes and lives. Often we say firefighters risk their lives – and it is true every fire can quickly turn deadly – but this was an especially dangerous fire that was attacked and put out with professionalism and a deep desire to protect the community.

btw – to firefighters it did not matter your political affiliation or anything else – just that people needed help – we should remember that.

USFS Handles Final Mop-Up of Blustery Bay Mills/Mission Hills Wildfire

Wildfire mop up amidst biting, blustery and bone-chilling winds found only in the U.P. along Lake Superior: The Gales of November struck not far away on Lake Superior some four decades ago on a night just like tonight

9:50 P.M. 11-12-16 Saturday Night Fire Update

Putting out the Bay Mills/Mission Hills wildfire completely is trickier than the normal mop up. Hard-working firefighters have been putting out hot-spots and flair-ups as freezing winds whip up embers and tree fires.

The final parts of the mop up was turned over to the U.S. Forest Service at 10:05 p.m.Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016. Apparently, the wildfire included USFS land and/or blaze crept onto forest service lands.

“We’re turning it over to the U.S. Forest Service,” stated the Bay Mills fire chief at incident command.

And its that work on their normal night off – that brings these firefighters close together.

In fact – after about an hour and a half of the challenging – and seemingly never-ending – mop up – the camaraderie between the township fire departments in the U.P. was again proven.
Proven and understated in a radio conversation between the Bay Mills Township Fire Chief and the Superior Township Fire Chief – just as more and more firefighters have been cleared to leave the scene:

“I want to thank you guys,” the Bay Mills Chief said.

“Anytime,” the Superior Township chief responded.

They mean it.

Editor’s note from Greg Peterson/Owner, U.P. Breaking News: Thank you!

Tonight’s wildfire slam-down in the terrible terrain and only a stone’s throw from Lake Superior by an army of local, state and federal firefighters – demonstrated how we can count on firefighters, law enforcement, first responders, paramedics/EMTs (plus wreckers, road commissions, DPWs) and all the others. It is the kind of area that can easily injure firefighters.

We sincerely thank all the firefighters for their bravery, determination, skill, community-bigheartedness and even their daring nerve moving forward into those blazing windswept hills with embers rocketing into their faces. Folks, these fire fighters showed gusto and blustery courage equal to the super blustery winds they endured.

URGENT 8:27 P.M. 11-12-16 Saturday Night

Fire Update: Bay Mills/Mission Hills Wildfire is 100 percent contained

The Bay Mills/Mission Hills blaze is reported to be 100 percent contained by wildfire incident command. Officials say the the fire was basically located at the old U.S. Forest Service Lookout Tower. Mop up will take hours and may even been needed on Sunday if flare-ups are reported due to the blustery and bitter winds that have created big waves on nearby Lake Superior.

The blaze was estimated at roughly 10 acres – with embers and winds still a concern. Wildfire took over two and a half hours to bring under control due to its remote location, the rough hilly/brushy terrain and the cold, whipping winds – plus at one point was a threat to homes if it proceeded.

The fire is no longer believed be a threat to public.

8:10 p.m. 11-12-16 Saturday Night Fire update:
The Dafter Township Volunteer Fire Department and the Bruce Township Volunteer Fire Department have been paged to join the fight – bringing to 5 the number of local fire departments battling the wildfire.

Beechnut and oak tree ridges are among the places affected – and the fire is near the old ski lodge.

“It’s at the old fire tower, if you know where that is,” said a fire official at 8:13 p.m.

8:03 p.m. 11-12-16 Firefighters are gaining a hand on the blaze.

U.S. Forest Service and Michigan DNR firefighters have arrived and joined the firefight.
Note: News media was just ordered out of the fire scene and must stage in an open area on Tower Road at Lakeshore Drive. The U.P. may be the only place in the country where the media is not allowed to cover wildfires – and are not allowed to go where they can actually see flames – even if the media is wearing the required state fire clothes – not allow. Period.

Numerous wildfires have been reported across the Upper Peninsula for reasons that include down power lines, high winds and illegal burning – and now a remote wildfire in the Eastern Upper Peninsula.

At 7:27 p.m., the Bay Mills/Mission Hills wildfire was reported 50 percent out and contained.

About 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 – numerous fire departments were dispatched to a remote wildfire located on an edge of Bay Mills Indian Community Reservation tribal land and U.S. Forest Service Land.

At 7:11 p.m., the Bay Mills/Mission Hills wildfire was reported moving north – northeast toward the “old ski lodge.” The wildfire was reported west of Monocle Lake and near a lodge.

“If we see flames over that hill that’s when we have to worry about the homes down there,” said one fire official who was near the fire line. “If it goes anywhere its going to head towards the old ski lodge.”

A Michigan Department of Natural Resources bulldozer and firefighters were being brought in from the Soo area.

2016-fire-tower-rd-32016-fire-tower-rd-4

U.P. Breaking News has heard officials discussing possible evacuations if the fire cannot be knocked down soon or moves toward homes. But no decisions have been made. No evacuations have been ordered.

The fire is being battled by the Bay Mills Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Superior Township Volunteer Fire Department and the Whitefish Township Volunteer Fire Department.

The tower is said to be off the end of West Tower Road near the Mission Hills area and located in rolling hills of brush – and the fire was said to be leading toward USFS lands with hardwoods. The Michigan DNR is also offering its firefighters and vehicles.

Among the reservation and neighboring streets blocked to normal traffic are W. Lakeshore Drive, Tower Road, Ranger Road.

Michigan State Police and the Chippewa County Sheriff’s department with traffic and all non-firefighting vehicles are being rerouted around the area and spectators are being turned back.

Meanwhile about 6:40 tonight Powell Township Fire Department firefighters were sent to a remote brush fire off County Road 550.

Firefighters were sent down a very long driveway off Brown Deer Road off CR-550. Firefighters battled the wildfire off County Road 550 for over an hour.

Powell Township firefighters cleared the scene at 7:56 p.m. Saturday.

This afternoon Sands Township firefighters battled a brush fire – and had to call for mutual aid from Chocolay Township after one of the Sands Fire trucks apparently broke down.

Plus about the same time – high winds blew power line down onto a tree along U.S.-41 near the Houghton/Baraga County line and triggered a brush fire.

As other Yoopers argued over who to vote for on Monday, an Eastern Upper Peninsula Dug Team swooped down on meth labs allegedly located in a home, an adjoining abandoned building – and even an old church – all on 10 mile Road – and found toxic waste sludge that contaminated the Meth Lab areas.

In addition to arresting three and shutting down the meth labs, Tri-Dent Drug Team officers say they made controlled buys of ecstasy – a longtime party drug.

The Tri-Dent Drug Team was assisted in busting the meth and ecstasy ‘ring’ by the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan State Police, the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) – known for its own crackdown on meth labs in the central U.P.

Below is a Tri-Dent news release sent out by Chippewa County Under Sheriff Michael D. Bitnar. Ongoing Tri-Dent drug investigations include three eastern U.P. sheriff’s departments rooting out meth and other dangerous drugs in three counties – Luce, Chippewa and Chippewa. Plus the Sault Tribe Police Department, the U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Department.

Busted on many charges (listed below) were Rodger Lee Jewell and Suzanne Elizabeth Jewell plus Cody Joe Power.

Dead inmate’s mom to the MDOC: I beg you to give me more time to make funeral arraignments for my son – 30-year-old inmate Derrik Siminski of Saginaw died at Marquette Branch Prison

URGENT URGENT URGENT 11-2-16 10:50 p.m. ET

Please Please Please – Michigan family needs help burying their loved one – and beg state of Michigan to extend deadline for burning body

(Saginaw, MI) – A grieving mother is begging state of Michigan officials to give her more time to raise money and make final arrangements for her son’s body – and she fears there is a rush to whitewash the death of her son at the Marquette Branch Prison.

30-year-old inmate Derrik Siminski of Saginaw was found in apparent cardiac arrest about 5 p.m. on Oct. 1, 2016, in the highest level of security at the state’s toughest prison on the shores of Lake Superior. Siminski’s family have set up a gofundme page to raise money for his burial – and they are desperate because of a looming state deadline to burn his body.

Here is the link:
http://m.gofund.me/please-help-bring-diggler-home?rcid=8074082ea14111e69ef9bc764e0525d6

“I feel my son was taken from me,” said Serena Daniels, Siminksi’s mother, who dismissed any thoughts her son would commit suicide.

“I talked to him every day and he sounded fine,” Daniels said, adding the entire event is made even more painful because her daughter Katrina – the inmate’s sister – is suffering from a terminal kidney disease. “And now he is dead.”

The MDOC is rushing her son’s investigation, Daniels said.

“They want to rush this,” Daniels said about the quick investigation, immediate autopsy and now the state wants to burn her son’s body.
Yet state officials told the inmate’s mother that her won’t know autopsy results for “six to eight weeks.”

bridgeport-patchAt 8 p.m. (Last night, Tues., Nov. 1, 2016) a Bridgeport Police Department car pulled up to her home and an officer relayed the message her son was dead in Marquette – over 350 miles from Saginaw.
The officer provided a number to call officials with the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC).

The inmate’s mother is literally begging state officials to extend tomorrow’s deadline (Thurs., Nov. 3, 2016) that the state has set to make final funeral arrangements for her son. A Saginaw funeral home is offering a low income special price of $3,500.  The other option offered by the state is to bury Siminski on prison property in the Cherry Hill Cemetery in Jackson, Michigan.

“They said they would burn him and send me his ashes,” said Daniels, who feels rushed into making final arrangements as money needs to be raised and only to options were given.

Daniels granted an interview to U.P. Breaking News tonight from her home in Saginaw, Michigan where family has gathered to try to make sense of the unexpected death and now feels it is being rushed into funeral arrangements by state officials.

Siminksi was being held in the Level 5 Maximum Security Unit at the Marquette Branch Prison.

Last night’s death of an inmate where the state sends their worst prisoners – is the latest in a series of questionable deaths in the past year involving the lack of proper medical care of Michigan inmates

Today’s “emergency” at the Marquette Branch Prison was a monthly drill not connected to last night’s death of young maximum security prisoner at Michigan’s toughest prison, according to MDOC Spokesperson Chris Gautz.

Gautz claims today’s emergency message on the prison’s main telephone line was only a drill.

When pressed why police stated they had not been informed about a drill – Gautz said prison officials never notify Michigan State Police or any police agency prior to the monthly drills.

Meanwhile – he refused to release the name of a 30-year-old maximum security inmate who apparently died in his cell last night. We now know the victim’s identity because the family is begging the state to not burn the man’s body because a decision by tomorrow is impossible.

“Michigan State Police were on the scene last night,” Gautz said.

Officials say they are awaiting the results of an autopsy that was performed this afternoon (Nov. 2, 2016) on the prisoner – who was assigned to the highest security – Level 5 – which has nothing to do with a person’s crime but rather how they have behaved while in prison.

The dead Marquette Branch inmate was convicted of larceny, plus the production and distribution of marijuana in downstate Ogemaw County – near the Lower Peninsula towns of Rose City and West Branch.

U.P. Breaking News has been reporting that no ambulance was called – and after about 50 minutes of allegedly conducting CPR – prison officials asked a U.P. Health System-Marquette doctor to pronounce the inmate dead via radio – sight unseen.

When informed of these facts, Gautz declined comment saying the matter is now a Michigan State Police investigation.

MDOC says Marquette Branch Prison ’emergency’ was a drill – not related to inmate death

By Greg Peterson

(Marquette Branch Prison, Michigan) – Last night’s death of an inmate where the state sends their worst prisoners – is the latest in a series of questionable deaths in the past year involving the lack of proper medical care of Michigan inmates

U.P. Breaking News has been reporting that no ambulance was called – and after about 50 minutes of allegedly conducting CPR – prison officials asked a U.P. Health System-Marquette doctor to pronounced the inmate dead via radio – sight unseen.

When informed of these facts, Gautz declined comment saying the matter is now a Michigan State Police investigation.

30-year-old Marquette Branch Prison Inmate died tonight – as rash of Michigan prison deaths continues just weeks after Kinross Riot

(Marquette Branch Prison, Michigan) – Another Upper Peninsula prison inmate is dead – as northern Michigan’s dead prisoners starts to get attention across the country.

The incident happened just before 6 p.m. Tues., Nov. 1, 2016. in Marquette, Michigan.

The latest death involves a 30-year-old inmate who was pronounced dead tonight at the Marquette Branch Prison – a maximum security prison along Lake Superior in Marquette, U.P. Breaking News has learned.

It is unclear if prison officials have notified Michigan State Police for an investigation.

Via radio, a Marquette doctor was asked to pronounce the prisoner dead at approximately 5:47 p.m.

The inmate was found unconscious in his cell at approximately 5 p.m.
Prison officials were providing CPR and asked for a doctor from U.P. health System Marquette to pronounce the prisoner dead “approximately 34 minutes into the code.”

At least six Michigan prisoners have died in the past six weeks during unusual medical events or because of neglect, according to numerous sources.

Prison officials administered epinephrine – or “an epi” – six times.

Narcan was administered one time

He was administered “D-50” one time – several people contacted U.P. Breaking News to state that the D-50 was presumably “dextrose, in case he had low blood sugar.” However it was not stated as D5W or Lactated Ringers – as we have heard for years in medical calls. This is only one of many questions in this man’s death.

Types of glucose/dextrose include:

  • D5W (5% dextrose in water), which consists of 278 mmol/L dextrose

  • D5NS (5% dextrose in normal saline), which, in addition, contains normal saline (0.90% w/v of NaCl).

    • D5 1/2NS 5% dextrose in half amount of normal saline (0.45% w/v of NaCl).[1]
  • D5LR (5% dextrose in lactated Ringer solution)

However the prisoner remained in flat-line aka “asystole.”

The identity of the prisoner is not known – nor are the crimes for which he was serving time.

Dumpster diving incidents by Marquette’s hungry and begging to help freezing children: Just the cold facts – as grey as the skies

The Real Scare of Halloween: There is ‘No Room at the Inn’ this Holiday Season in Marquette or the Upper Peninsula

Already proof of poverty and hunger issues to come in Marquette, MI and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan

(Marquette, MI) – Three incidents of hunger and cold over the past two days in Marquette, MI shows the gales of winter’s poverty and homelessness have come early as the Upper Peninsula.

In fact, the U.P., itself is barely coming to grip with the extent of the growing poverty and a hunger crisis – and if there is any substance abuse issues involving the hungry – all rules seem to get thrown out the window.

State budget cuts and high unemployment ate taking their toll.

The Marquette, Michigan Poverty Incidents Fri., Oct. 28, 2016 and today Sat., Oct. 29, 2016 (so far):

  • A short while ago on this cold Saturday morning a man was begging for food money for his hungry child on Bike Path – possible name is Steve Mert (sp? – we would like to talk to him).

  • Friday – Police called to local restaurant because hungry people were “dumpster diving”

  • Friday – twice on Friday police called to an exclusive neighborhood in north Marquette where a male and a 15-year-old female show up asking to be let inside because they are cold and hungry – they claimed to be neighbors but man who called police did not recognize them.

The Warming Center and the faith-based Room at the Inn Project do what they can – with almost no money. They are forced to weed out – send packing or arrested – all those who have been drinking or doing drugs. Police do not have the jail space to lock away the problem – nor should they be expected.

The problem is likely to get worse as the snow blankets the U.P.

Out of real fear, should people not help those who arrive at their door seeking help?

What would Jesus or any of the faith leaders do?

How many will die this winter suffering in the frozen U.P.?

How cold are we as humans with people who are fallible?
