June 11, 2016:

charles-maki-2Charles Joseph Maki, 44, Amasa, MI died Saturday, June 11, 2016 after being accidentally run over during a strange incident in L’Anse, MI.

The accident is suspicious because sources say he had a clean toxicology but yet was run over and killed lying in the middle of the road.

One vehicle was able to miss him, another could not despite the apparently best efforts of the second driver.

However friends want to know why he was unconscious lying in the middle of the road.

Friends say this is suspicious and offer more reasons like he was a very experienced outdoorsman who loved camping and some say his campsite was meddled with and questions about a few people – arrested in other cases – that he was spotted with just before he suspiciously died.

(We will be updating this case soon, and hope to hear from Charlie’s relatives – please call investigative reporter Greg Peterson at 906-273-2433).

Touching video of his campside with Anishinaabe Ojibwa “Welcome” song

The song is a Welcome song…Boozhoo that I learned when I worked in Watersmeet.

I like to sing it still it makes me feel good and it reminds me of all those I worked with and the great lady that taught us the song.

I was looking for Charlie’s chaga mushroom today

I found it in one of the boxes and then on a ride look what we found…my grandson took my picture, he let me borrow his chookie and sunglasses.
