(Sands Township, MI) – A Sands Township man and his girlfriend are being held in jail tonight in connection with that domestic violence case turned meth lab, and the man with a length record of drug sales plus assaulting police and prison employees.

The two are being held in an investigation into a meth lab that was allegedly discovered in their trailer at 553 Mobile Estates in Sands Township.

Arrested were Chuck Reed and Samantha Kukla (scroll down to see more about suspects). The pair were arrested today, Friday, April 20, 2018.

It started when a 911 call said there was a domestic assault at the mobile home, and when police arrived the man tried to convince officers there was nothing wrong and stated he was alone. But following protocol, Marquette County Sheriff’s Deputies searched the trailer – thus found the female domestic violence suspect and an alleged component to manufacture crystal methamphetamine.

Domestic violence involving men and women have risen to an epidemic rate across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with many being beaten up and assaulted every single night. There was another domestic dispute this afternoon in Gwinn, MI involving a knife. Plus the former Finlandia University Football Coach Bob Moss was arrested for aggravated domestic violence today. These cases were among at least 7 monitored in past 12 hours by U.P. Breaking News.

The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement team (UPSET) was called to conduct and investigation and remove hazardous substances.

He is charged with a Marquette County District Court Probation Violation.

Reed has been convicted of assaulting police and prison employees plus was sentenced in at least two drug sales cases dating back to 2005, however most of his arrests have been in the past few years (scroll down to see his record).

Reed is a Marquette native, according to his Facebook profile.

URGENT – U.P. Breaking News Bulletin 1-25-18 – 7:50 p.m. ET

Domestic violence in Marquette and Escanaba area: Conspiracy, burglary and other arrests in Marquette County – plus surprise 40 times hike in bail for a Marquette civil rights activist

By Greg Peterson
U.P. Breaking News

Editors note: Alarming large number of daily arrests makes one wonder about how safe are the roads: – seems like 20 percent (or more) of the driver’s on the road are not legal. Plus many drivers that are stopped are “wanted” on out-of-state warrants – and the agencies that filed the charges do not want to travel to get their suspect – so driver is released. U.P. Breaking News – as a rule – doesn’t print the names of those arrested for drunken or drugged driving or the countess booked for driving with a revoked/suspended license. In addition, arrested because many cannot afford today’s high insurance premiums. We don’t generally report those things – unless there is an incident or something happens like resisting arrest.

(Escanaba/Marquette, MI) – Men with lengthy records are jailed tonight for domestic violence – plus an unusual conspiracy case – and the shocking increase in the bail for a civil rights activist charged with B&E in Marquette County.

In fact – the highest bonds are for those NOT charged with a violent crime.

A man convicted of numerous assaults was sent to jail today – again:

Robert Bartczak

Robert Bartczak

Bartczak was booked at 11:40 a.m. today, Thurs., Jan 25, 2018 on a charge of felony domestic violence.

He is either charged again – or finally serving his jail time for the other recent assaults he committed. This is not his first bite at the apple.

In Jan. 2017, Bartczak, then 31, of Escanaba, MI was sentenced to 15 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to assault and battery. Bartczak also was put on 12 months probation and ordered to pay fines/fees of over $1,500.

In Oct. 2017, Bartczak of 6006 Horseshoe 22.3 Drive in Gladstone, MI was sentenced to 100 days in jail after pleaded guilty to one count of second offense domestic violence.
Bartczak was placed on 18 months probation and order to pay over $1,200 in fines/costs.

(Upper Peninsula of Michigan) – Only minutes into 2018 – a woman was kicked in the head at the an Ishpeming bar – plus a man likely had his skull fractured and other serious injuries during family fight in Marquette Township.

There were numerous arrests overnight – and the only information on the arrests is available in Delta County and Marquette County.

The other U.P. counties are stuck in the copper age and apparently celebrated 1918 last night. Other counties will state who is arrested but make you guess the charge. Some post nothing. Hoping all the counties will one day support open records/public records being provided thoroughly, easily and not huge charges.
