(Copper City, MI) -Another power pole split in half by a driver leaving a bar – becoming a familiar Upper Peninsula event.
But it’s no joke if your home is plunged into the dark – especially during cold and windy weather. The Upper Peninsula Power Company was notified and working replacing the pole and turning power back on for residents.
Police quickly found a black pickup truck that crashed into a power pole at the Drift Inn bar in Copper City. The hit and run wreck was reported by bar employees who call police about 2:27 a.m. today – Sat., Nov. 12, 2016.
The power pole was split in half near the front of the Drift-Inn Bar in Copper City, MI. Officials have found the wrecked 2010 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck in Phillipsville Location.
Much of the area is reported without power. There is conflicting information on whether the driver was a male or female. One report said a Calumet woman was supposed to drive the man to his nearby home in Phillips due to being intoxicated.
The heavily damaged pickup has been found at a home on 2nd Street in Allouez, MI/Phillipsville Location, MI.
The truck was apparently found in a driveway that is behind the “Last Place on Earth” Antique Store. The “Last Place on Earth” is a perfect and common moniker for this area of the Keweenaw Peninsula – a wind gust away from Lake Superior and now the Gales of November.
