Dump truck, car wreck closes M-28 for miles tonight – however thankfully there were no injuries despite a lot of damage including the trailer pulled by the truck

An accident between a compact car and a big dump truck pulling a trailer closed M-28 tonight for at least 40 minutes in Chocolay Township.
Traffic was backed up for more than a mile in each direction from M-28 at Wintergreen Dr. near the overpass after the crash that occurred just before 10 p.m. Tonight (Sunday, July 24, 2016).
Three Michigan State Police cars were among the units that closed the highway as a wrecker removed the car and picked up a large pile of the cards body that was shredded especially on the front passenger’s side.
Among those assisting at the scene were the Chocolay Township Fire department and MSP along with wrecker crews.
MSP were questioning all involved and appeared to be the investigating agency.
The truck managed to pull off the highway despite a mangled axle on the trailer.
Everyone involved in the accident escaped with out serious injury – but may be sore in the morning. No names have been released and no word on whether charges will be filed.
