Elderly women survives rollover on Garden Peninsula, choppered to Marquette trauma center by Valley Med Flight

77-year-old woman flown from wreck site in Delta County by medivac to Marquette hospital

(Garden, MI) – An elderly woman is hospitalized in Marquette tonight after being airlifted in a medical chopper from a late morning rollover accident on the Garden Peninsula.

The crash was reported about 11:40 a.m. ET this morning, Wed., April 25, 2018 on the Garden Peninsula.

A 77-year-old woman was traveling about 55 mph when she lost control of her car near or in a curve on 16th Road at the Garden Cemetery.

The vehicle ended up on its side and emergency officials have to extricate the victim from her demolished car.
Valley Med Flight from Escanaba landed on the scene about 12:30 p.m. – and the victim was flown to U.P. Health System – Marquette in serious condition.

Paramedics radioed Marquette ER doctors that – while the victim had a reported altered mental status on the scene – that she was conscious and alert during her flight across the middle of the U.P. Paramedics radioed the ER the woman did not remember the wreck or what led up to the crash – with her first memory being emergency officials attempting to help.

The Garden Township Volunteer Fire Department and EMS responded to the scene. Michigan State Police were called to investigate the wreck.

The name of the victim has not been released.
