The Breitung Township Volunteer Fire Department just notified the Iron Mountain Fire department it was going to use one of their hydrants to refill a tanker. That ws then apparently changed to the “Champion hydrant.”

Dickinson County home engulfed by fire – Third U.P. house fire of weekend

(Iron Mountain, MI) – Firefighters on Sunday night were on the scene of a fully involved house fire along M-95 in Breitung Township, MI outside of iron Mountain.

The fire is said to be at 4490 M-95 near W. Spring Lake Road – and the closest named road further north is Old Carney lake Road.

The Breitung Township Volunteer Fire Department has a nearby station – and initial word is they are getting it under control.

The Sagola Township Volunteer Fire Department has been put on standby at their fire station.

On Sunday afternoon a Delta County home received heavy noxious smoke damage from a fire linked to the toxic smoke coming from a bag of burning batteries.

And early Sunday a family hunting camp was destroyed by fire in Menominee County.

A Gladstone, MI home was wrecked Sunday afternoon after it sustained heavy noxious smoke damage from the flames and toxic fumes caused by a large bag of burning batteries stored in the home’s rear entrance.

The fire was reported at 1117 Minnesota Avenue at about 1:10 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon, April 22, 2018.

The “working fire” was put out by firefighters from the Gladstone Department of Public Safety with mutual aid from the Escanaba Township Volunteer Fire Department.

Sadly, the family’s three cats apparently died in the fire.

Fortunately no human injuries.

Meanwhile in Menominee County, MI:

Firefighters battled a blaze that burned a family hunting camp just south of Daggett located in Stephenson Township, MI.

The fire was reported just before 4 a.m. CT (5 a.m. ET) Sunday morning, April 22, 2018.
The Menominee County address believed to be at/near 4996 Gustafson Road.
Firefighters and law enforcement were on the scene.
We have no further details. We have a family name but are not sure how to spell it.
