(Hancock, MI) – The Copper Country ISD was on lock down within the hour because of a teen reported with a knife.
The incident was reported at the Copper Country Intermediate School District offices at 809 Hecla Street in Hancock, MI.
Houghton County 911 dispatched officers to the scene at about 1:55 p.m. ET this afternoon, Monday, April 9, 2018.
“The school is currently on lock down because one of the students there has a knife,” the dispatcher told responding officers. “A 13-year-old male (name omitted) student – he is in the student section currently – I am on the phone with a teacher.”
The student apparently fled the school but was found by police who just brought him back to the school voluntarily. The ISD superintendent was reportedly going to assist in talking to the boy.
Houghton County law enforcement had three police vehicles were dispatched.
