Ammo blasting off inside totaled home: Structure fire in Hulbert, MI battled by numerous fire departments

(Hulbert, MI) – Firefighters in Chippewa County just arrived at a fully-engulfed house fire in Hulbert, MI.

The fight is being hampered because there is a large amount of ammo and guns in the home.

“I don’t want people close while this ammo is going off,” the Hulbert fire chief said.

The structure fire was reported about 8:10 p.m. ET tonight, April 4, 2018 in Hulbert Township.

The Hulbert fire chief just told the dispatcher at 8:37 p.m. ET that the home is a total loss and still burning.  Firefighters first feared the occupant was trapped inside – but just located the woman.

Firefighters are fighting a blaze located next to 9840 S. North Hulbert Road – near West Apple Lane.

Those responding include the Hulbert Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Whitefish Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Superior Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Bay Mills Township Volunteer Fire Department and the Trout Lake Township Volunteer Fire Department.
